Right lads, shook hands on a Ford Ranger so need this gone. I had the exhaust and radiator done back end of last year along with service and MOT.
After quick sale.
Would take £1900 for it if anyone interested.

Depending what you want you can get breed more specific to laying, can get yr old Warren's for 5quid a hen round me, Ince you have nursed em.to health they will lay well for a few yrs still. I went for light sussex as they are dual purpose, for meat and eggs as I want both. I get 5-6 eggs a week per hen so just under 1 a day. Good solid bird, handles the cold and lays all year (some stop in winter). Nice looking bird aswell which isn't important but helps with the misus.
As some have said chickens will clear the ground they are on so either put them on slabs/concrete and feed em well or of your only having a few make a pen that can be moved, check out chicken tractors on YouTube etc.
You can free range depending on size of your place but they will gradually get further and further afield. We often have next doors chickens around ours and they are 300 yard down lane.
You can get an auto opener/closer on pen BUT they still need checking. They don't work 100% of time but it does ease the burden a bit.
Keep em clean and give em somewhere to keep their feet dry.
Worst thing is mites, they are a nightmare to get rid of so best to go for preventative measures. Mite powder in a dust bath, spray coops down internally with a mixture of veg oil and washing powder, on end of runs put double sided sticky tape. Combination of the above should stop it ever being an issue.
Main advice I would give, which is same for any livestock really, best thing is spend time with them that way you learn the norm so you can quickly spot when something isn't right.
We have Cockerell as we are away from.any other houses. He doesn't wake us up, we are used to the noises round here! Cockerells don't serve a purpose unless you want fertile eggs so if your not wanting to hatch your own then only get hens.
Chickens are great fun to keep, low input and eggs that are 10× better than shop shite. IMO well worth it.

Finished the bee keeping course last night. Very interesting subject. I won't be pursuing it right now but think I will in the future. I thought it was stick some bees in a box and later in the year get some honey. It's a lot more intensive than that and I have enough plates spinning at the minute. Glad I did the course instead of reading up a bit and getting some hives!

Now we are in the swing of it the next chicken shed should be coming today. This is guna be my brooder shed where I incubate eggs and raise the chicks.
Also guna be where I keep all chicken related gear instead of filling my big shed, this will mean I can get to my fishing tackle again and maybe get out on the banks!

These were original ones I got via post. I'm incubating my own eggs now and getting 70-80% hatch rate which is good enough for me. Broody hens bring their own issues so I'm guna keep incubating in the plan.

Batch 1
Supplier 1 - 6 eggs - 2 fertile 1 hatched
Suppler 2 - 6 eggs - 6 fertile 5 hatched
Batch 2
Supplier 1 - 6 eggs - 0 fertile
Suppler 2 - 6 eggs - 6 fertile 3 hatched
My own eggs at home now I have 100%fertility and usually around 70-80% hatch rate.
I've sold my first 2 sets of hatching eggs via ebay/post so waiting for feedback to see how that went.

Well, I have promised some cooked produce photos. Tonight's tea, double pork chops.......
Bloody gorgeous and now I am stuffed!
Genuinly have grown to appreciate food more. We have all got used to accepting shite for convenience.
Was also thinking tonight, whilst I am not personally religious, I can understand the history of saying grace and being thankful for the produce of the land.

I still believe this was true at the time. Uysk was a bump in the road and if it wasn't for the politics we could have had 5yrs plus of the best heavyweight merry go round.
Want to give a nod to Parker, he is taking on people that no one will want to entertain so by the time the AJ/Fury /Uysk politics is dealt with I hope he gets another chance.
Dont fancy his chances with them 3 but he deserves a shot.

Guna see how we go, I'm hoping to cover costs, anything extra would be a bonus. Bear in mind a 25kg sack has been lasting me a month I don't think it'll be too hard to cover cost.

Planning to now that I have built up the number of birds I have. I've got 7 chicks in brooder at minute they are about 4week old. Will keep a few of them for laying then rest will be for sale or table. The ones that are hatching today are going in my growing pen for sale or the table.
I'm planning on getting a bigger incubator to do 24 eggs at a time with the plan of growing batches for the table, have a cull day get em all cleaned and sorted and in freezer.

Well my first set of hatching eggs sold for £20+6p&p for half a dozen. Worth doing if they keep going for that sort of money!
Got 10eggs in incubator that are due to hatch today/tomorrow, got 8 that have pipped already so looking good

Done same again lads.....didn't get an after pic! To eager to get stuck in.
Unbelievable difference in meat. Plenty of fat on it but the type that makes the meat melt in your mouth. Crackling on another level too!
I will get a cooked pic one day

Had a friend just sold his X3 MSport for same reason Regards maintennace costs. Needed rear brakes and was £800+ that was with employee discount.
Do your research on the engine type as some have issues with cam chains going around 100k and its a 2-2.5k fix if they go.
Really nice motor all in all but costly IMO.
Personally I've always liked ford's for reliability and cheap to maintain and the all important heated screen.
But currenely I'm back to subaru forester and my vivaro conversion for now!

Moved 7 chicks from brooder to main coop today. 6 weeks old. This will free up the big brooder to move the chicks into from the little brooder. The production line is going now.
