  1. Hec is 22 weeks now and we have been quietly sitting watching the sheep with much concentration on me and very little on the sheep. As he has a lot of collie /kelpie in him I want to make him as sound as possible with sheep before he gets to the one finger age. I really don't want him disappearing after a flock of wooley backs. Any suggestions on how to keep his interest when we build up to walking through them and actually getting them to move? Moving away when they are at a distance is fine but if they ran straight in front I think it might be to much

Can't believe it has been allowed to drag on so long. Farmers don't get any choice as to if they can have 1/2 their livelyhood destroyed.

  9. I have a 3 yr old Saluki collie cross who did himself some mischief about four weeks ago. Running on a sand/rock beach. No sign of injury and he was examined to within an inch of his life. He would not put his foot to the ground for a week and he is still throwing it out now. Hind. No sign or obvious reason but still not right. This fella has had his exercise very carefully bui.lt back up but he usually runs like the wind and I aint going to let him atm. Any one recommend someone to look at him?, just fell out with my vets as they couldn't even prescribe right to worm the pup not risking th

His house training is coming on sits for meals and when encouraged fetches and brings toys back to hand and releases them. Starting to recognise his name. (not easy in a household of five dogs). Come on then tips and advice please I've only trained labs from pups before.

  13. Hi. I'm madmac owner of 4 lurchers 3 rescues and now a 10.5 week pup. Rescues are; whippet cross Saluki cross DH cross who all came with degrees of 'luggage' to unpack. Been a hard road for some of em but they are getting there. Puppy was my decision to have one I could train and work and thanks Molly for vouching for me to get me on here. He is collie/grey x kelpie/grey and I would welcome lots of feedback and support on his training. Trained gundogs from scratch but never a lurcher should be fun. They are very different as pups thats for sure. Will post pics later. Off to tak
