Yeah, like I said earlier I think I'm on top of the defecating in the house thing, I've had him for two weeks now, he's 11 weeks old and he's going to the toilet out in the garden, and as far as damage is concerned he has only chewed up my birds slippers, he hasnt touched mine or the kids so I'm not bothered lol. Nah seriously I'll do as you say (buy the good lady a new pair) and make sure he knows he cant touch any of the others if he feels he's had enough of the old ones he's clattered. How many Patterdale owners here have found their dog to be aggressive towards other dogs?

Dog castration question
Pipey Magregor replied to Pipey Magregor's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
LOL blimey. So whats all this nonesense I've been told about it settling them down more? What a crock of old sh!t. -
Does it or will it realy effect a dogs prey drive or hunting instincts if it's castrated? I ask this because a friends JRT has been castrated ( it was done before he got him ) but his prey drive is very strong and when my pals Pat Bitch came into season he was still banging into her with all his worth lol. I thought the idea of getting them castrated was to calm them down abit amongst other obvious things, Is it unusual for my mates dog to act like this or does it often happen that castration doesn't make much of a difference to the dogs prey drive and eagerness to jump up the back of

Thanks lads, it's the first time I've had a dog like this (Patterdale) and the first time in a long time that I've had a dog at all. So far I have found him to be pretty well behaved and obediant considering his age and the "Patterdales are hard to train" talk. I have him in the houe and because I work from home I do get to spend maybe more time with him than most get the chance to but I dont let him get away with any nonsense. I am firm with him, I dont have none of this sitting on the settee b*llocks, and theres rooms he's not allowed in, which he knows aswell. His behaviour has bee

It does seem like theres a hell of a bloodylot of this happening, whether its any worse than its ever been I dont know because I've only just joined. I do feel for those who have lost dogs though, f*ck knows what I'd do if my dog went missing. To all of those that have had dogs go missing, best of luck with your search, I hope you're reunited asap.

Patterdale cross breeding with Staffs

I think that JRT X of Old Skools looks the business. -
Nothing I said was with the intent to bait people into causing trouble, I wasnt running my mouth just voicing my oppinion on the laws they've employed in this country. If it's a debate people would much rather leave alone, then I'll leave it alone to keep the peace.

Exactly, some people can work wonders with a little program called Adobe Photoshop. FAKE!!! He is solid man, looks bang on. I'm well impressed by these crosses everyone has posted up recently.

That sounds fine the way they do it over there to me Haggler, why we cant have something like that I'll never know.

Speaks for its self no natural predator except man and motor car they are bound to be thriving, take a walk around mid wales at night you will always see one bloody do gooders yet hedgehogs are more rare Yeah, it amazes me the ammount of thought the government seem to of put into this (or lack of). If they weren't hunted in to extinction in the 1800's and before then I very much doubt they'd be hunted into extinction in this day and age. What next? a ban on Ratting? then again I better not mention that incase it gives them any ideas lol. Trouble with online badger debates

Patterdale cross breeding with Staffs
Pipey Magregor replied to Pipey Magregor's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
Yeah, by the sounds of it, if you're to cross Bull types with your smaller working terriers then just make sure you pick a game enough bull to do it with. I can imagine a top cross being a right handfull. The Poacher, your cross looked bang on mate, if he worked as good as he looked then that would of been some dog. -
No chance. What they going to do if the numbers carry on increasing ? (which they undoubtedly will do) Yeah, if the ban on hunting them is ever lifted then maybe it'd be something along the lines of this happening. Then again, it is the government we're talking about and common sense doesnt always figure in their plans does it. The same logic thats seeing the government planning on stopping TB jabs for kids at school, just as they let a sh!t load of immigrants in who are filling the hospitals up to the rafters with all sorts of diseases including a load of TB!

Then as the foxes tuck into it, jump out on the foxes with your pack and eat them instead! lol.

Does anyone know if there is a decent book or a website that I can get info off of, for obediance training for Patterdales? I'd realy appreciate some recommendations as I want to do the best with me dog that I can. He's not hard to handle realy (well so far anyway) and he's not realy that bad with sh*tting and p*ssing all over the house (he's had a few moments, and mainly in the same spot), nothing to bad though realy and he does know its wrong because the last few times he's done it he's looked at me funny and ran into his bed, with his ears and head down. I'd just like some guidl

I bet he would if his knackers were still intact.

Yeah as everyone else has said, I think the dog thinks she belongs a little higher in the pecking order than what your bird does.

I've been told just yesterday that the Badger population in the UK is soaring out of control now aswell. Is this true? if it is then whats the chances of a lift on the ban?
-
Some incredible dogs and pictures that have been put up here! This one of elisderyn's... And this one of alimac's... There isnt a bad dog been posted up if you ask me, but these two get my vote for best.

Congrats, I hope all goes to plan with them for you.

A few Newbie Patterdale questions
Pipey Magregor replied to Pipey Magregor's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
Nah thats not my dog, I wish it was I just seen the picture on www.patterdale-terrier.co.uk I thought it was a great pic of a great lookin little worker so I used it for my avatar. I only say as it's very likely the owner of that dog is on these boards? If he is then I apologise for using it without his/her permission, I didnt think anyone would mind as it was being used in a gallery open to the public over at patterdale-terrier.co.uk website. I've been asked to remove it, so I've done just that. Apologies to who ever it concerns.
