Sandymere, thanks for that i will get her into vets this afternoon and get some anti inflammatory for her, im sure 6 weeks of lead walking will do her head in but would rather she be able to run sound in the future! Thanks for the info and advice ?
-
I was literally just typing to ask about how much rest to give it and if she's still OK to lead walk so thanks for answering

Possibly just worrying because never had lurchers before and is simply a knock but its an unknown for me, my plan is to get her into vets this afternoon, been on a night shift so will see if it goes down at all by time I wake up and if still swollen will take her

Wondering if some of you more experienced people can offer some guidance. Recently got my first lurcher puppy, currently around 14 weeks old. Have done as much research as possible regarding her exercise and training and all has been going well. Until yesterday, she had a mad 10 minutes in the garden with my spaniel and then and hour or so later she was holding her rear leg up. Checked it over but nothing obvious so assumed she had just knocked it. Now just got home from work and although not holding it up, she is limping a little but putting weight on it. Have however noticed her toe is swol

Cheers for all the suggestions ? never really been too concerned with dog names, more the other half doing my nut in about her not having one. Anyway think she will be given the very obvious and very common name Fawn.

Got a list as long as my arm, nothing seems right for her though, never struggled naming a pup before
-
Not wrong there!
-
Well my spaniel is Roo but spends most her life getting called "ginger tw*t" so I'm sure it will get adjusted slightly

Evening all, picked new pup up on Sunday and Mrs is getting on my case to give her a name (fed up of calling her pup) told her I'd have a name sorted tonight so any suggestions? Picture isn't brilliant but she's slept for most of the last 2 days. Will be names out of a hat 10 minutes before she gets home at this rate.

Cheers mate, no doubts ill be back for more help ?

Thanks mate I will keep this in my, appreciated ?

From what I've been told she's saluki x grey with small amount of deerhound and whippet and 1/8 bull, was speaking to a few breeders but the lad with her just much more helpful and really seemed to know his stuff

Found myself a pup! Thanks everyone for the help and advice! Massively appreciated!

Havent seen that litter advertised, must be on a group im not apart of, does sound like a good start though, could possibly be a litter taller than I was looking for though

I was expecting closer to the 400 mark when I started looking, then seeing all these post about them being super cheap really made me question how much I should be paying, good to hear your thoughts on a fair price!
-
I wouldnt have entertained anything will bull in before reading what the other chaps have said tonight and now tbh it sounds like a bit of bull is whats needed haha

With the amount of people wanting dogs currently it really is a seller market in my opinion, granted if I knew some people or even friends of friends then yeah maybe it would be negotiable, but currently if I say no to a £500 lurcher then the next 20 people will snatch them because unfortunately that seems cheap at this moment. I see lots of post abiut people not wanting to pay more than £150/£200 but I've not seen any pups for sale even close to that of late. I will continue to look daily though and im sure sooner or later something will come up. Cheers mate ?

Thats extremely interesting to read that, I would have never thought the whippet would be the cruncher out of the 2!

Very nice looking dog! like I've said I'm very much a complete novice when it comes to lurchers, only ever really known the collie cross my old man used to have and just assumed people adding bull to take the bigger stuff. Hearing you and others say about using a bull Cross for rabbits though has definitely opened up a lot of other options to me! Cheers for your help mate ?
-
Would anymore than 1/4 bull be too much just for tackling rabbits?
-
My concern with too much bull in the mix would be it smashing the rabbits up? Could be very wrong as like mentioned never had any experience with bull crosses, although seem to be in almost every lurcher i see now so I guess must be some logic to it
-
Funnily enough mt next question was to ask about size of dam and sire, im trying to avoid a lurcher with lots of bull in the mix thats why I was asking. Will definitely bare this in mind for future though, thanks!

Thought id found a litter id take a chance on, when I asked what Cross the puppies were the breeder told me "they are just lurchers". Now again could be me thinking into this too much but surely the breeder should be knowing what cross their puppies are made up of?! I politely declined to ask any more questions and left it at that.

Shes a cracker! Clearly loves her job!
