Tell me about it mate , I had home visit 2 weeks after application was sent off, all went ok. Sick of bloody waiting now.
-
I've been waiting since September mate (South Yorkshire). I've made some contact but just got told it was still pending. I've since discussed with firearms team at BASC and they called manager and was informed there was a back log after moving offices and system was waiting to be upgraded (or something along them lines). Hope you get yours soon mate :-)

The springer !!!
-
Well last year I sold my HW100 to fund my FAC and SGC application and gun fund, not expecting it to take soooo long to process the application. I've just picked an old springer .22 air rifle up for cheap to get me out in the field until my ticket arrives, not sure what make it is, it's a break barrel and is made in China but got it for very cheap with scope and mounts so can't complain. Checked zero and it's hitting target out to 40/45yards perfecto. Brought some good memories back from my first rifle, looking forward to weekend for steady walk round some of my permissions.

What Trousers Does Everybody Use?
Tornado1979 replied to esoxluscious's topic in Hunting Boots & Clothing
I've got some deer hunter ram which are very good quality paid about £95. One of mates has got some Fjall Raven which will be my next selection about same price. I've tried jack pyke but use to sweat like crazy in them. -
Not 100% mate only had limited info but he said he couldn't understand why they couldn't just tell me the problem.
-
Spoke with the Firearms team at BASC Yesterday, they asked me for all info and said they would speak with manager. They called me back today and said there is no problems with my application, just issues with system due to them relocating offices and it's due to be repaired this week. But due to this there could be massive backlog, so not looking good.

Totally agree the checks need doing mate, just wasn't sure what they will check if you have never had any criminal records etc, like the sound of 1 more month hopefully your right I'm driving the wife and postman crazy, I was hoping it had been delivered whilst I was at work and the wife had wrapped it for Christmas but I was wrong, she's purchased me loads of hunting gear though so I was sat Christmas day gutted
-
Well Santa didn't deliver my ticket, I've received a mail today from firearms team saying they are waiting for PND checks to be completed before they can process. For someone who has never had any trouble with the law throughout my life what else do they need to check ?!?! It's nearly 4 months now since I sent the application off.

Moles Next Door To My Permission
Tornado1979 replied to Tornado1979's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
Reply from council.... I have discussed this issue with the chairman of the parish council and have been advised that the council are fully aware of the problem which are a natural phenomenon in rural parks, gardens, golf courses and the like. Our grounds maintenance team work constantly to keep them levelled and will within the next few days be working to level this current activity from the moles. -

Tikka T3 Super Varmint .223 Twist Rate ?
Tornado1979 replied to Tornado1979's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Spoke with shop today, it's a 1 in 12, he called GMK to check and they also said the 1 in 8 is special order only and advised that it would take approx. 6 months for delivery, and the version with long barrel is not threaded. GMK said they only "usually" sell 1 in 8 to target shooters only, and majority of people are after the 1 in 12 for foxing. -
Moles Next Door To My Permission
Tornado1979 replied to Tornado1979's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
Chances are you will get the big heave ho, on yer bike jack!! If it's a local authority owned ground the councils response is likley to be "we don't control moles" however "we sub contract the work out" who later down the line, you find out the sub contracting firm don't do moles neither!!! I do lots of work on local authority owned property but it's only the associations. Local club or parks comitees etc that use these grounds who actually pay me. I hope you get a better response. Hopefully mate, but by the sound of it I've got more chance of my hair growing back lol. Can't -

Moles Next Door To My Permission
Tornado1979 replied to Tornado1979's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
Thanks for quick response, it's a football field and park so hopefully they will control them. -
I've been for a walk round one of my permissions this morning and noticed moles had been to work doing some serious damage, I've got a friend who's going to assist me, but where do you stand if the land owner next door doesn't control his ? I believe land is owned by council so I'm going to contact them Monday. Picture attached is land next to my permission must be over 600 holes.

Tikka T3 Super Varmint .223 Twist Rate ?
Tornado1979 replied to Tornado1979's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Thanks for info lads, I'll expect the 1-12 twist then, 55gn would be ok for my needs and permissions but ill do some research. I'll not be making many purchases so want to make sure I select the best one for me. Thanks again for info. -
I've ordered a super varmint about 3 weeks ago and didn't request the preferred rate of twist on the Tikka Super Varmint .223, from what I've read online the 1 in 8 is best option over the 1 in 12. I called RFD today to check but he was busy with other customers so didn't have time to check which one he'd ordered, and wasn't 100%. Out of the two which one would be the most common for sale in the UK?
-
I've got deposit down on super varmint but .223, can't wait to pick it up :-)

Panic over... Went to meadowhall in Sheffield today and the WHsmith there had ST in stock + another 15+ magazines on shooting.

Decoying Crows Whens Thd Best Time To Do It
Tornado1979 replied to lampingking's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I've had good results with eggs and few crow decoys, started with half a dozen eggs cracked a few open left others in decoy area, they usually come to investigate shortly after setting up but get spooked easy so make sure your well hid :-) I've now got several rubber eggs from joke shop that do same job. Probably more experienced people on here with better advice, but that works brill for me.
