Thanks Scramble. Thousands of pounds I do not have lol. Could you explain the other methods you advised of? I have never heard of either of these so unsure how you would use them. Thanks again Deano

Hi Slipper, Not sure if I can be much help but if your zero is at 120 yards, by my calculations at yards you would be approx 0.7" too high. at 50 yards you would be 0.28" high and at 90 yards you would be 0.66" high. There is quite a variance with the zero you have chosen. An yard target you could quite easily miss a head shot for example if you were to aim dead on as you would be nearly an inch too high. I zero mine at 100 yards which means from 50 yards out to 100 its pretty much poa = poi. I think the highest point at my zero would be 75 yards at 0.27" with everything else before

Hi all, Was out lamping the other night and found it difficult to range find a few rabbits with the air rifle. I have been toying with the idea of buying a rangefinder anyway for my HMR but wondered if there are any night vision enabled range finders out there? I have had a look on the net but can not seem to find anything. I was also thinking, if there is no such device, could you mount a lamp to a normal rangefinder mono and illuimnate the target you are trying to range find? Thanks in advance Deano

Advice On Rifle Mounted Lamps Or Nv Route?
Deano88 replied to Deano88's topic in Reloading and Gun Maintenance
Well this is my first rifle mounted lamp and all I can say is that I am very pleased with it. The distance i can see out to with the red led is more than enough for my hmr. I bought the turbo kit with the additional tube so you can run 2 batteries and i went out lamping for over 2 hours with no incident. Not entirely sure how long the batteries last for, maybe someone else can advise of that. It is very sturdy and the build quality is impressive. I think the main benefit i can see is that you can buy the different led's for it. I will be getting the infra re led to use with my sony handy cam -
Sorry but stating "anything other than a Harris is a waste of money" is not true. I have a Deben lever tilt bipod and the quality is of an equal standard to Harris products. I have a lever(tilt), knotched 9-13" bipod and it cost me £65 from Uttings. The Harris alternative is around the £100 mark. From somebody who has both, I can say there is no difference in quality, weight or ease of use. But this is of course my personal opinion.

Cheers Markha for the above. Some really useful reading. I definitely have enough information from this thread now to apply and improve my groupings and technique. thanks again to you all. Could I just ask one more thing to Markha? What damage does the bronze brush do to the crown? Does this still apply with using a rod and brush also? Apologies if this is an obvious question to ask, Its just that I am from a shotgun background so not really had to worry about rifled barrels before etc.

I had one referee form sent back on my application for the person writing "none" in the boxes. The referee was told although they technically had answered the question, they needed to provide more information. They re worded it along the lines of "in the ____ years I have known the applicant, I have no knowledge of ______ having Domestic or social issues with family and friends" obviously not exactly but along those lines. hope this helps

Cheers for the advice mate. I have read some posts about people getting away with never or hardly cleaning their 17 hmr and then others saying they have to clean it every 5-10 rounds. Will just have to practice more and find what my barrel likes best. As it stands I think I will pull a bore snake through it every 20 rounds or so and give it a propper rod and brush clean every hundred or so. Does anybody find that the brass weight on the bore snake gets stuck in the barrel on the first pull through due to the build up of foreign debris? Its a pain in the a$se. once i get it through (e

Any upstanding member of the community is for a Shotgun cert I believe. I have just received my shotgun and FAC (Coterminous). For my FAC I used my Girlfriend as she is not immediate family in the eyes of the law and a senior manager from my work. I also used my manager from work for my shotgun as I could not get a signature anytime soon from a doctor/ upstanding member of community etc and I had no troubles with the grant of my certificates. This was with the Norfolk constabulary so yours may differ but I can not see any issues. I have read various forums on this issue prior

Thanks everyone for the advice. I must admit that I was not giving much time between shots so barrel heat/expansion is a possibility and something I will take more notice of in the future. I think that Pledgey is spot on also as I do find myself raising my cheek off the stock to take shots. That foam trick does seem like a cheap solution worth trying. Regarding the dirty barrel, I know there is not a set rule and every barrel is different but how many rounds are you firing before you run a boresnake through it roughly? Thanks again for all the posts, will have a look at the yo

Hi All, Have just come come back from a bit of zeroing and target practice with my HMR. Have not had it long (CZ452) but managed to get a few 1" groups out to 100 yards all in the bull. I did attempt some 200 yard practice but the wind was playing havoc today. I did not get a single shot within a 2" bull. I would say it was approx a 5" group, that was low and to the right even though I adjusted 16 clicks elevation and wind was behind me pretty much. stats were taken from chairgun so was just trying to put theory into reality and to see wether 16 clicks would infact be correct for

Advice On Rifle Mounted Lamps Or Nv Route?
Deano88 replied to Deano88's topic in Reloading and Gun Maintenance
Cheers mate. Ordered the red kit on sunday night and was hoping for delivery on Tuesday but it never came Had a look at the delivery info of the website today and just realised they are on holiday until 11th march so the Rabbits and fox's will live to fight another day...or a few more days at least Thanks again -
Advice On Rifle Mounted Lamps Or Nv Route?
Deano88 replied to Deano88's topic in Reloading and Gun Maintenance
Well I can not argue with 3 votes for the NM800! Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Just had a look at some video reviews on the net and it does look ideal. At the moment I could only afford to get one colour LED for it, and I have a 300mw IR illuminator for my air rifle set up so out of the white, red and yellow led's which would you say is best? I have not lamp'd the land before so I am hoping the rabbits and foxes won't be too lamp shy but is it worth getting a coloured led from the offset just incase? Thanks again. Can I just say, I wish I had found thi -
Hi All, Have been trawling the forum pages as I am after a good night setup for my .17hmr. The main purpose will be rabbits and the occasional fox when in range. I have read good reviews on the Light force striker however some bad reviews regarding wiring. I have then seen some of the high end deben series which seem a bit more compact but not a lot of user reviews about. I am just after some educated opinions as to which set up is best around the £200 mark. cheaper is obviously better however I don't want to make the mistake of buying poor grade equipment and then having to fork

Hi All, I have been directed to this site as have been told by fellow hunters there is a great community on here, who may be able to help with knowing of land that is in need of some Rabbit and or pigeon control. I have a full shotgun cert and have just obtained my fac for .22lr and .17hmr. Also have sub12 pcp rifle where fac is not approved. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance and if there is anything I can help yourselves with please do not hesitate to ask. Cheers Deano

Good evening all. Would like to introduce myself to the forum. My name is Dean and I have been shooting for over 10 years. This has been mainly Rough and Game shooting with Shotgun. I have just obtained my FAC for both .22LR and .17HMR and am looking forward to gaining some knowledge from experienced Riflemen as yourselves to help me with my new craft. I will also hopefully be able to help some others out with my experience with shotguns and rough shooting. Thanks in advance
