  1. Went to the vets today to get pups last jab and took my 14month old for his booster. The vet commented on my older dogs coat (he is a rough coated Bedlington Grey Whippet) he thought that it seemed very dry and i must admit he has been itching a lot in the last week. I have used frontline so the fleas are not the problem. Does anyone have any ideas what this could be?? I feed Vitalin with some fresh veg and warm water (pilchards once or twice a week) with olive oil am and cod liver oil pm feed. I am going to try some evening primrose oil as recommended on the threads on here. The vet th
  2. My dog is also itching really badly, i keep checking for fleas! There seems to be loads of them about this year.

    chickens

I prefer cross breeds such as the goldies or speckled hens as they are really good layers and really easy to tame. I have 2 goldies and 1 speckled and have had 3 eggs everyday!!!

    Whats ya poison?

In the summer it has to be a few tinnies of 1664, and in the winter home made sloe gin - cant beat it for warming you up!
  7. I sympathise with you LB i had an old lurcher boy until he was 15/16 - he was a retired guard dog (soft as anything). He started to pee in his sleep and eventually he would just pee anywhere whilst walking around the house. In the end i had to think of his dignity as you could tell he was embrassed - also my daughter was 3 at the time so i went to vets and he agreed it was time ....... i am not saying give up - just as long as he is still happy!! Good luck with him x
  8. i have also heard that honey and glycerin works really well - very cheap!!

    Pest Control

I think you need to ask yourself some questions in order to quote: 1) how long is the contract for 2) is it dependant on seasons 3) how much of your time will it take 4) are you expected to be there everyday 5) are you expected to do the pest control alone 6) will this be your only contract 7) how much in real terms do you need to earn travelling time / expenses 9) if you are setting up a buisness you will need to provide invoices etc so you need to incorporate administration time 10) you will also need to think about insurance - such as public liability. Hope this helps!!!!
  10. Lidl - £2something the dogs love it - its also cleared up my daughters eczema!
  11. Cheers for that skycat - i have used it for years on the nags, and it is brilliant, draws out everything and anything! Will stock up on some just in case!!
  12. Does anyone use Animalintex on thorns and infections? I used to use it on the horses and when i got stung, its really good stuff. Dont know if you can use it on dogs, but i cant see why not. I would be interested to know if anyone does use it

    Body hair

This has to be the most amusing thread on here!! You blokes really need sorting out! Too much hair is a right no go for me. Hairy backs remind me of my grandfather, too much chest hair will encourage the fleas, and as for the meat and 2 veg - going to work with pubes in your teeth is embrassing (and no this has not happened to me)!!
  18. mine does the same thing!! see you in a couple of weeks coyote!
  19. beddy x's are the best - love them! Mine is 22" 1/2 grey 1/4 beddy 1/4 whippet - getting a first cross pup in 2 weeks. Also use my neighbours first cross who is about 19". they work really well as a pair together!
  20. my pup is just a year old, and he still goes around with his nose to the ground. every now and again he will see and chase, but is too late! I am quite happy that he is doing this at the moment, as it will all come in time. yes i have felt frustrated at times, but i know he will get it right when he is ready. once he knows what he has to do, the nose to the ground will act as a positive.
  21. My pup has just turned a year, and now I am building up fitness ready for this season. I would not dream of running him too young - its not only bone development, its the lungs and heart that need to mature as well. Good luck with the pup - get the training rock soild over the next few months.
  22. As I understand it (and have read) that the pup must be castrated when he reaches maturity, to prevent future problems down the line...... its a very kind offer to let the owner use your stud dog for free. I wonder if this type of thing is covered by insurance, as when you get a pup you would not know there was a problem - but it is obviously a more techincal operation to castrate??
  23. Hi All, A friend of mine is looking for a working strain Teckel pup - does anyone know of any breeders, litters around - would be grateful for any info.....cheers
