the thing is hunting with dogs is split right down the middle....on one side you have daytime lads/lasses who run mainly just one quarry the other you have lampers who run several types of larger quarry daytime lads/lasses prefer saluki x's , but this also depends on where you run your dogs, small fields some frefer whippet/collie greyhound x's with a bit of saluki on more open lad you need the saluki element otherwise the dogs just dont last 2minutes...the lamping lads/lasses prefer dogs with bull for the aggression side as they tend to run several types of quarry rather than just one. so t

no not gretna i dont think, although i live 5 mins from the track. i hadher kept with a trainer who said hed look after her for me for free if he could run her , i know she won a couple of open races ad distance with him but she got injured , i found out he aint the best keeper of a dog cos she wasnt in best of nic when i got her back. im into coursin so pla on mating her soon

tha bitch i got is 4 year old , my bitch is Kilrock Martha, Toms the best is her dad , milmount Martha her mother. seems like there is a mix of track and coursing blood in her and all seem like quality dogs....think maybe this bitch is better bred than i thought. cheers frank

the problem boils down too , too many different opinions from different hunting backgrounds FACT :Lads that course daytime seriously do not like minshaw breeding FACT : Lads that lamp rabbits and other quarry like minshaw and that sort of type of lurcher so the moral of this thread is different horses different courses (no pun intended)

LABLAD....i do have 6 dogs well bitches , but i stated their ages , so this season i only have 3 to be worked and 2 of em are entering their first coursing season so they wont be run too hard , as im not irresponsible and dont want to spoil all the hard work i have already put into them, i have high hopes for 1 young bitch but the others might not make the grade for me .....anyway come monday im down to 4 as i have given 2 pups to friends of mine , so its not like i have got 6 dogs all the time , i also said people keep giving me pups

well i think 2 is just right , but ive got 6 but only cos people keep givin me pups !!!!! drivin me nuts. got a 2yr old bitch , 13mnth old bitch, 12mnth old bitch and 2 4 month old bitches and a 6wk old bitch......phew so only one is seasoned....glad they not all running ..id be fooked

Running dogs need to run. i agree mate , you cant beat 'match fitness' no matter how many road miles you do it still doesnt beat field work ,

ok pal get tourself a pup around 8month old in december and see how you get on then, cos i guarantee a good winter hare will spoil a young dog , so dont give the young dog a chance to learn its trade , n fire him in at the deepend
