  1. Due to other commitments I haven’t been able to visit a “permission” where I normally cull corvids. This week I was disappointed to hear one of my shooting friends had been given permission by the owner specifically to cull the shortly pairing magpies due to my absence. Fair do’s I thought, but my mate only has a .22 rimfire. I approached the lady owner who is also a friend, to explain my absence and also inform her that my friend John has an open FAC but only permitted to shoot on registered land; she said it was registered and it would be OK; I didn’t want to argue the point. Knowing the la
  2. Hi Steve, After removing the stock, remove the air cylinder and mark the alignment of the barrel in the breech with a bit of adhesive tape, remove the angled grub screw and draw out the barrel. Clean away any oil and make sure the barrel, breech and grub screw clean and dry, insert the barrel into the breech at the correct alignment and tighten up the grub screw without excessive force. If you think the barrel may have twisted round from its original position; check the serial number stamp, it’s usually on the same side as the breech serial number and square to the horizontal plane. Easy task
  3. Sorted out the wiring and installed the new board camera to my night vision. I only needed to connect to the three pins marked - OUT, GND & 12v. The clarity of the image the new board camera produces is far better than the original one I fitted. The only problem I now have to sort out a niggling fault; the monitor goes dead for a few seconds when the rifle is fired. I refitted the old board camera during elimination tests but the monitor still went dead, I guess I have a dry joint somewhere. When I have the time I will strip it down and re-solder all the joints. Regards, Steve
  4. I have bought a 700TVL 1/3" Sony HAD CCD Sensor Colour Board Camera from China to upgrade my DIY night vision. I have been unable to fit it because the wiring terminals are not the same as my current board camera. I have emailed the supplier a couple of times but had no reply. Is there a kind and knowledgeable person here that may be able to explain what the two rectangular terminals and markings are for? My guess as follows- Bottom 3 pin block Out = monitor (yellow) GD = negative (black) 12v = live (red) Top three pin block B/W =
  5. For gods sake, never buy chinese crap You`d be better of with a cheap BSA than any piece of chinese rubbish. Seriously,, DO NOT buy chinese pish. With the greatest respect to other’s opinions, a new Chinese B2 costs £35 from my local RFD; it claims to be full power and reasonably accurate. A second hand, half decent springer, will set you back at least £100. In my opinion, it’s a no brainer to achieve the least financial loss, especially if interest in shooting is lost. Regards, Steve
  6. Hi Keith, Pleased to help in any way I can. The overall length of the sleeve is 54mm, the depth of the cut out to fit the scope is 30mm, leaving 24mm where the camera module sits. The tube on the camera module is 20mm, so I guess the 4mm difference is the necessary clearance needed. Regards, Steve.
  7. Hi Keith, I bought a short eye relief scope sleeve dedicated to the Viper Connect direct from Nite Site Ltd. The price was £18 including delivery. The only problem I encountered when fitting was it is a very tight fit over the twist out eye relief of the scope. I overcame this by fitting the sleeve over a Vic vapour rub jar that I found was slightly larger than the scopes eye piece and soaking in very hot water for a few minutes. It now fits on the scope perfect without excessive force. Regards, Steve
  8. Steve have you a NiteSite mate, Hi Keith, Yes, I have a NS50 for field shooting at night, and a homemade night sight permanently attached to my Brocock for ratting. Regards, Steve
  9. Bought a tear to this sixtythree years old hardman's eye. Steve
  10. A cottage several hundred yards away in the field I back onto had a firework display last night (New Years Eve). This morning shortly after dawn I heard a commotion in my neighbour’s large oak tree 35m away from my bedroom window, I looked through the window to see a tree full of crows and magpies; I guessed the fireworks had scared the local corvids away from their normal roost. I couldn’t believe my luck, I fetched my HW 100 from its safe keeping, prepared it for shooting, made a rest out of bed pillars, carefully opened the window and ****, they all flew away. Next time they have a firework
  11. Hi, I’m to this forum but not new to the sport. I hope to contribute to the posts just as much as I gain benefit from others member’s posts/opinions. Regards, Steve
  12. Don’t waste money on a cheap second hand springer in the hope of getting a bargain. Buy a new Chinese B1; very basic but accurate enough for plinking. When the bug bites, sell it on and buy the best you can afford! Regards, Steve
  13. I too have a viper connect on my HW100KT; it is on two 30mm Sports Match mounts and they keep it accurately zeroed. The only problem I have is mounting an auxiliary sighting aid onto the scope i.e. torch/NiteSite etc; because of the narrow space between the mounts, both mounts for the auxiliary aids have been reduced in width to fit. Not ideal but better than forking out £40 in my opinion. Regards, Steve
  14. I have the standard Contour Super 6 in .177 and only fill to 185bar; that gives me 18-20 shots in the sweet-spot before dropping off point of aim at 30m. JSB Exact produce the tightest group for me, when steadied on a tripod it is almost pellet upon pellet. I also have an HW100KT and the Brocock is every bit as accurate. Regards, Steve
