Put my old hob in with my jills yesterday, feck, it was like WWIII in there, initially the hob was not interested, the Jills gave him a few sniffs and plenty of chatter. I thought this is ok, and cleaned out the Hobs old cage. Within 10 minutes he was grabbing them and pulling the jills into the sleeping quarters as he had done early summer. The racket was something to hear, they had a right old set too and both jills gave the Hob a real drubbing. I had checked both the Jills and Hob before entering. From a Glorious morning in Hampshire !!! Would like to reintroduce my old hob with two of my 3-year-old jills who have recently had litters, all the kits are away from their mothers ( separate court ) and the jills appear to be back to their normal condition. Is it safe to reintroduce this hob,!!!! I cannot put the jills in with the hob as the cage is only big enough for a single fert. Any pointers.

what time do you take the meat out? Depending on the quantity usually in the morning before I leave for work, around 5.30am. If it’s bits & pieces of meat I will often take it out that same night after they have had their fill, there is always dry food if required. Terrier Stuff, really glad to hear that, I had hoped to call you and find out how the Hobs are going, sadly I lost your number.

Came home from work this evening to find one of my young kits dead and partially eaten by her brothers & sisters. This is the second time this as happened to me this year, after the discovery of the dead kits two weeks ago, I separated my youngsters and housed them together without their mums, they are / were eating dry food and fresh rabbits. Everything was fine until today, last night I had seven apparently healthy kits, 5 Jills, 2 Hobs, on checking this evening I found the ¾ eaten remains of a sandy jill laying away from the living quarters partially covered by hay. I

Hoping someone can help out, both my Border & Cockers pups are regularly suffering from ear mites, I have been to the vets on 4 separate occasions and religiously given them their drops as advised by the Vet. However within a few weeks they are suffering again. It’s the money what’s the problem (apart from the £35 consultation fee!!! ) it’s the drop’s don’t seem to be working. Can anyone advice on what’s avialable, or anyone got a method of treating the bloody mites and keeping them away from my dogs. Thanks

Thanks for all the positive comments. I have just come off the telephone to an old boy I know who has had ferrets for well over 50 years. I explained what had happened to my kits and explain in full what I had done with feeding etc. It would appear that I have not done anything that I should not have, my routine did not change nor the feed. After a lenghty discussed I mentioned that my chickens and ducks were being taken by a local vixen, my old friend suggested that this could be the possible cause of the jill killing her kits. cant see that dougie mine get a bunnie every other day and ive had no problems woodchip, the way in which these have been killed at 12 weeks can indicate that something may of happend between the 2 jills in order for this to happen.The fact food was in there at the time could of been part of the reason , this is no fault of anyone but can cause territorial fights when mother and babies are around others.ive seen this happen with other animals and have known it to happen over food and seen it happen over food, it doesnt take much to start them off but they only need to feel insecure and the

Kits were 12 weeks old, eating meat and dry food, active and bloody lovely. I leave a rabbit in every other day over night, remove it in the morning. I have racked my brains to see if I have done anything out of the usual. Really cannot understand this, if it is the hot weather, what does the future bring. Bloody gutted.

Found this morning that my litter of sandy kits (4) were dead and partially eaten by my Jill mum. WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED. The Jill and her sister were the only adults in the court. Left them last night with a gutted rabbit, all seemed fine, this is the Jills second litter. F%%cking Gutted, what could I have done wrong. This has never happened before sorry really pissed.

With a forth-coming house move (4 in 5 years) this time I’m hoping it’s a stayer. I have just brought a second hand 8ft x 6ft timber “kennelâ€. It is separated off in side and both sides have access to the run (8ft x 8ft). My question, I have a 6 month old Border, a 16 month Labrador, a 7 year old JR and a 5 month old bitch Cocker. Who should I pair off, or should I.?? I have lived in a flat for the past 7 months so all the dogs have been together, should I separate the young ones from the Lab & JR. ?? Any advice welcome.
