Needing some advice on which rimmy?
GEOFF.223 replied to RobertoS86's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
£15 for 50 hmr, they must have seen you coming! You are paying £17.50 for 50 .223. Admittedly I buy in blocks but that's nearly £3 more than I pay, and if I wait for the inevitable offers, nearly £5 more!!! very little difference in price in terms of performance, as you know .223 will eat up 4/5 times the range of the hmr, and if you already have a .22 whats the point in buying a gun that can only go a extra 50/60 yards when for the slightest bit more get a gun which can shoot 500 yards more?????? its a pointless calibre UNLESS u could get 500 rounds for £25 like the .22...... -

Minimum barrel lenght for a rifle?
GEOFF.223 replied to ROB.BOB's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
i know ITs off topic BUT cutting length off air rifle barrel will lower ftlb as the pellets is not in barrel long enough to gather speed. so if you do cut off a considerable amount u may have to increase power. -

i free floated the barrel on my 17hmr and bedded it the accuracy became slightly worse. not end of the world kind of worse just over the inch at 100 yards compared to before averaging a inch. -

F#@K bolt action .22 had one thought it was good then got a go with my friends cz 511 semi auto best fun ever and no difference in accuracy out to 50 yards anyway Your mate must have had a better made 511 than I had then. Virtually brand new but the grouping I got from it wa 3-4 times the size of any bolt action I've ever had. i have a few friends in a .22 semi club and there achieving half inch 5 shot groups at 45yards -

forgot to add mine is a stainless synthetic with barrel cut down to 16'' and im looking for a reflex over barrel silencer, topped off with a leapers 4x mil dot scope. well this is the plan have ordered the scope waiting on license returning to add the variation. -
my friend has just started shooting have been trying to convince him to get a ruger 10/22 for the summer as i have just ordered mine; but he is one of them lads that just dosnt listen. i told him to get the cheapest stainless one he could get with a plastic stock so the is never gonna be problem in any whether condition AND do not get one with a heavy barrel as the land wee have is very hilly and goes for miles i have already explained to him the benefits of a heavy barrel which is no good to us SO anyway as he is the kind of fella that knows best he jumped the gun and bought the first one

Needing some advice on which rimmy?
GEOFF.223 replied to RobertoS86's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
i had a ,17hmr but as it makes just as much noise as a .223 i didn't see the point in having it any more as i can get cheap round which cost as little as the .17hmr for my .223. as said above don't get rid of the .22 i did and now im paying to get slot back on license. yes i liked my .17 but the noise for a rimmy and cost of ammo put me off, the original thought of a rimmy is take it out and shoot a couple of hundred round for fun at little expense not with the hmr. keep the .22 get a .223 im geting a box of 20 for £7 and there accurate. hmr are £15+ for 50 not a mega differe -

3 MONTH WAIT ON CENTER FIRE :(
GEOFF.223 replied to GEOFF.223's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
im in larne mate. my original application took 9 months all my friends who have got just put in there first grant are getting them back with in 2 to 4 weeks. they should have some kind of guide lines when your applying for a variation in how long it should take at the most. if someone told me (a official person) that my license would take 9 months then thats ok but [bANNED TEXT] you know jimmy got his in 2 weeks John got his in 6 months etc etc there is no determining how long it will take what so ever. -

a good dog trainer told me as its a springer don't throw any thing for it until it knows to sit and stay, its was hard not to throw anything for it until it understood sit and stay (took a month to teach her but she was 4 months went i got her) he told me as soon as she get to the point she sits [bANNED TEXT] u throw a decoy it will be much easier to teach her direction. so [bANNED TEXT] she got to that point i throw a dummy front left and right made her sit for several seconds then pointed to which one i wanted her to get, [bANNED TEXT] she retrieves the one i told her i tell her to

baikal side by side modernising project
GEOFF.223 replied to GEOFF.223's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
i will try -
got a litte cheap baikel £135 IN VERY GOOD CONDITION. my plan is to make it fell like a modern over and under, so going to fit the biggest gel but pad i can find to it of course cut the stock to compansate. i have a friend who is a great artist so going to sand down stock a let him burn in a design then smoke it so it has like a walnut effect. i have been wanting a gun to play with like this for sometime its been the condition of cheap guns that put me off butt the blueing on this one is perfect not one mark i can see.

3 MONTH WAIT ON CENTER FIRE :(
GEOFF.223 replied to GEOFF.223's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Is this an original grant or a variation? Variation could take 3 months without much trouble, Grant could take a year! Calling them 30+ times in 3 months is daft, that is every 3 days from the time you sent it in, allowing 6 weeks before you chased (not an unreasonable time), that means you have called them every other day. Chill out! Edit Just noticed NI, I'm not so familiar with the process there, so the comments above may not be entirely relevant! i have been told by my firearms officer that the office it go's to there is 6 people who deal with shotgun rimfire applic -
