  3. Used to give sections of antlers to my dogs years ago, they loved them and they were long lasting, just ordered some from Amazon co.uk. anyone have a knowledgeable opinion on their benefits or a more reasonably priced supplier ?
  4. Royal Marine survival training. You can eat ten rabbits a day and still starve as rabbit lacks everything except protein for your bodies survival.
  5. When feeding a complete food you should never add anything else as this ruins the balance, a good complete food should be exactly that Complete. I am not pretending to be an expert but I know several people who are and that is where I form my opinion. Thanks for replying, please let me know what you think of the book, so many top dog people think it is the bible.

  8. Anyone in the market for top quality leather and brass leads, collars including lurcher collars and slips I can really recommend Bellman and Flint, www.bellmanand flint.co.uk, their service is also very good. They are mainly known for their terrier location equipment which I understand is also very good.
  9. I've had my best conger trips between dusk and about midnight, if you've not fished for them before it maybe a good idea to buy the hooks already on a trace, seek advice on the likely size of the conger and tackle up accordingly. A very good good bait would be a small mackerel with the tail cut off and both sides punctured to let out the juices. Hook the bait firmly in the mouth and do not strike on the first run.
  10. Darlo : Get a copy of The Barf Diet by Ian Billinghurst ISBN -10 : 0958592519 ISBN-13 : 978-0958592512 A good book that is very informative of the diet requirements of dogs and an interesting read. I would not feed your puppy an adult complete food as their needs are quite different , why not buy a 7kg Adult bag and a 7 kg Puppy ?
  11. I feed my dogs twice a day, the first thing in the morning whole raw chicken carcass, second meal basically BARF, mixed minced raw meat ( sometimes replaced by oily fish ) pulped raw vegetables with added porridge oats to thicken and bind, mixed with a small amount of Burns Mixer, then sprinkled with Dorwest Herbs Keepers Mix, and fish oil. In addition they have a raw bone every other day. I appreciate that this takes effort and time but I feel the results are well worth it and the cost is lower for me then a premium dried complete food.
  12. Remote trainers used properly are really good, why keep saying they are useless if used incorrectly ? that applies to just about everything. I have found after basic training the remotes reinforce commands particularly at distance and with a high drive dog. Start off on low shock settings until you reach the level required. I have the Canicom 1500 which I can recommend although expensive I have had it for several years and has been used on several out of control dogs with total success and without leaving any issues.
  13. Quite common for dogs to get tail injuries, caused by an impact injury check if there is any swelling or bruising in the area, if the dog is in pain you must go to the vet, who will no doubt give some form of anti-inflammatories which should help, ( I must say though that these days vets appear to me to be more concerned about making money rather then the welfare of the animal, and will often as a matter of course insist that the dog is examined for several weeks along with further treatments resulting in high costs ) The other common cause is Dead Tail also called Limber Tail which is very o
