  4. @pointer mine took a nasty bite from the big rat as she gripped it from the back, also i blame the heavy snow covered brush.. But she did manage to pin it down and kill it straight after it bit her but it took a good few weeks to heal. Sounds like you didnt do to bad then:). yeah i had the same problem trying to work my ferret with the bird she seemd to start accepting him as a working partner right as the season was about to be finished. She sees him every day now though whilst molting and dusnt seem to mind him now fingers crossed. Yeah theres plenty summer hunters round my area too jus hope
  5. @pointer i agree mate well iv passed 1 of my flight spots last week and it was covered round the hedges with rabbit so good signs i just hope the lads with the dogs dont ruin our season before it starts. Hope the squirrels breed out nicely in my areaa too my fhh just took 5 out in her 1st season just gone the squirrel flights are unreal i think. Her favourite is the rabbit but she has also caught a few female pheasant and a huge stinkin rat aswel so dont think her 1st 1 went too bad definatly hoping for a better season this year and hope theirs abit more for her to get at.
  6. Thanks ginger shooter. Cant wait to get her back out for the new season hopefuly going to be quicker than i expected.
  7. Heres hw my fhh is getting on. I put her dwn for the moult begining of march after a very successful 1st season. Heres a pic of her progress. Also lost a few feathers. http://instagram.com/p/YxI2WXxOQC/
  8. I could still get her to a vet for a good check over though just to keep the mind at ease.
  9. That's exactly what mine does when I'm walking with her on the glove to the field. She spreads out her wings and tail and shivers a littl. Even at her flying weight now she isn't following on. Once in a tree takes about 10 mins of bobbing her head before she comes down. This is all since the snow has come. Could this be the problem????
  10. Keel feels full at 2lb2oz and anything higher but at 2lb starts to feel sharp. Had her looked over erlier while she weighed 2lb2.5 and he says she seems fine by looks of her and keel feels ok so I just really don't know what's wrong with her. Alls I can do is play with the weight and see her responses any other ideas?? Was thinking of giving her an early end to the season and starting training her again just before start of next season to get her ready.. Is this a bad idea?? This is last resosrt option if I'm honest as I'm gonna tweak around with her weight first to see what responses I get.
  11. I'll try that next time mate it was in a pretty awkquid place for her to see it she had to really bob her head over branch to see me cos she flew up in a high tree on like a steep bank. She's stopped shivvering thankfully though. Try again tomorrow at 2lb0.5 see hw get on.
  12. Took abit of advise from you guys and tried her this morning at 2lb1.5 and what happend??? She went in a high tree and wouldn't budge for half hour. Managed to get her down after whistling like mad thrwoiing chick in the air for solid half hour then got her back and put her away for the night as its been snowing and hailing most the afternoon. So weight might not be the issue mate.
  13. Cheers I will up her weight to 2lb1 then up again a little after that see how she does. Thanks for the help evry comment wether its good or bad all helps mate then I know where I'm going wrong. She was first flying at 1lb15.5 in training I lifted her to 2lb and she's been flying at that for about nerly 8 weeks so hopefully this is all she needs. I'll let yous know how she gets on.
  14. Yeah its pretty cold in her muse but I always bring her in the house for a good half hour before she hunts iv done this from taking her out training so she will be warm surely by the time I take her out. Had her out again this afternoon she was still funny at 2lb she followed on but I seen a few rabits and she just didn budge. Then all of a sudden she dropped and I thought comon ran over and she had old of a half of dead rabbit carcass which I took streaight off her and disposed of. Walked about on the glove seen another rabbit and she didn move :s but she is bobbin her head everywher like she
  15. Makes sense for sure. So say I take her out tomoro at 2lb1.5oz shud I and try her on creance 1st or jus get her straight out hunting?? Cheers
  16. Cheers lads well she's at her flying weight of 2lb now so I'm gonna take her out at that try her again on any game around if she isn't interested I'll finish her off on bunny lure see if that bothers her then if no luck I'll up her weight a little and try that. Cheers for the help lads.
  17. Cheers mate I hope that's all it is. I'm gonna try her on the bunny lure tomorrow for a cuple of days see how that goes.
  18. The last 2 days iv been out with my fhh and soon as I get out the house she starts shivvering like mad. Obviously its cold outside but does that effect the birds ways of hunting? As the last 2 days iv seen more rabbit than iv seen in my life and she isn't 1 bit interested in them. Yes she was entered the end of december and has so far took 3 rabbits, 2 pheasant, 2 squirrel and a fat rat but all of a sudden with this snow and bad temps she seems to have lossed interest. Let me no if this can happen or if I'm dealing with something else here. She flies at 2lb and both days have been exactly so c
