Ideal to have a net that will really wrap them up if you preoccupied on the other side of a hedge or similar. That rabbit in the pic got a bad injury, was it like that before it got in the net?

I’m no expert in this Keith but it may be over granulation or hypergranulation which is just your body healing from the lost nail. I wouldn’t think it’s cancer mate so try not to worry

Really nice type shame rabbits are so thin on the ground

I’m sure Tommy Macpherson was the most decorated British soldier of WW2.
The kilted killer, there’s a good book about him. I have caught rabbits for his wife in there garden, she was a nice lady

Getting pedantic now with replies , can almost write them in my head what he’s gonna say . Same shit , mud slinging , get some back , agendas, menstrual . It’s pathetic now as he does none of that . That’s why he can’t function in social circles as he’s incapable of criticism and acts like a bird , finding insults where there is none or being offended by proxy for any one of a myriad of causes .
Mind numbing .
anyway , was just yesterday walking my dog up the high street local to me and had him in a lead . He’s very placid and friendly being a lab , everyone’s pal , oratory driven and smells constantly. About 50 yards ahead , a lad was walking towards me , on a lead fair play , with a f***ing tiger
It was a complete mutant American bull dog but the size of a bullmastiff , a light fawn Merle , a complete myriad of I would say am bull , xl bully and pit . It was a lot bigger than my lab ,who isn’t exactly a small type himself , and once it made eye sight with my canine the duty growling and scratching of feet on the pavement started . It was very well conditioned and very forward wanting to get to me and Erik . I moved Erik behind me and watched the lad drag the thing away at full chain length , I would say that he was headed to the local park where undoubtedly it would be off the chain to cause chaos .
what a f***ing liability , what pleasure is that dog to take out in public ? I genuinely look at people and think “what are you f***ing thinking having that ?”
Spot on about these big bully types, once a dog of that size flips it’s top your going to have an absolute nightmare on your hands, the power they have and the damage and pain they can cause people just don’t realise. I think the same as most sane people when I see people with them “what the f**k are you doing with an animal like that!?

I like the idea of a Mali x whippet for a knock about ferreting mouching type, they’d be very handy I’d think

I grew up with bull terriers, of both types, in inner-city Liverpool. My school days were filled with Footy, The Jam, Adidas and bull terriers, so many of us owned (and worked) them. Time dims memory, but i remember both types were 'better' than the dogs of today.
In the early 80's i first heard about those Yank APBT's, and it wasn't long before i seen my first, at those early Wigan lurcher & terrier shows. I was smitten and at the same time Ed Read started advertising both his stock, and his collars in E&M.
I was still living at home and owned a lurcher, terrier, an EBT and about 6 ferrets, so there was no chance of owning them 'real deal' dogs. I could only send off for 'Reids brochure' and bought my dog a collar and lead set (which i still have).
Within 12 months, the APBT had become so popular they had their own ring at local L&T shows. Names like Maurice Dann came to show their stock and it seemed half the country had a game bred dog and a 'break stick' hanging out their back pocket..!
Some of those Reid dogs, those off Skipper in particular, could throw huge animals. Dogs that would struggle to find matches.
They were great times and i learned a lot about the breed, and of those that owned them...
Bloody good thread this, please keep it this way...

Going back to diet maybe gnasher could talk a bit more about what was a normal diet for a bulldog then how did that diet change when in a keep. I’d expect plenty of raw meat fish veg etc but would be interesting to hear what was fed and benefits behind the diet. Definitely one of the most interesting threads for a long long time

I got some young here at the minute and they are always playing with the water and emptying the bowl, they also love the hose sprayed above them on a fine mist, sends them bonkers
