Hello and welcome to the forum.

Ditto, they're just passing the buck. How can they say a cartridge isn't a dud when two different weapons wouldn't fire it? Shows what they care about their companies reputation doesn't it?

Hi Michelle.....welcome to the forum.

Another good read is my side of the mountain by "jean Craighead George" the adventures of a young lad who sets off from New York to find his Grandfather's farm and is forced to survive in the rough. Beats Shades of Grey hands down.lol

I had to laugh to myself the other day. My daughter starts at Holme Lacey college in september....she wants to become a vets assistant or if she gets qualified continue on to the royal vetinary college and become a full vet. She says to me "I don't think i could charge all these old ladies a fortune when they bring their animals in.....so therefore I don't think i'd make a good vet"! My reply was, It'll be entirely up to you how much you charge, just remember you have to make a living but if your conscience gets the better of you, then set your price accordingly....make enough to cover the

If like me you enjoy the countryside/nature as well as the shooting, I'd like to recommend this new book by Chris Yates to you. I'm 5 chapters in and am finding it a fabulous read. Anybody else like to recommend any titles about adventures in the countryside? Only I don't think it will take me long to read this book.....I can't put it down at nights.lol

Nice shooting and a very good write up, thanks for sharing with us.

Here is the reply to my email to lyvale, Needless to say I wasn't impressed by it. Bare in mind that I also tried the Dud cartridge in my gun. Thank you for your email, I firstly must apologise you've had to write to us on a matter of product quality, you are correct in assuming a miss- fire is very rare, a true miss fire is statistically one in a million if someone experiences more than one it usally indicates either the mainspring and/or firing pin need replacing. I'm sure you won't experience any more though if you do please review and ask a gunsmith to look at the spring/firing pin

I can't hit things in the air, I had a go at a local DTL put on by our syndicate once and couldn't get into a rythm. I have no problem whatsoever hitting things running on the ground but when it comes to things in the air I simply miss. I normally come through the target from behind and pull after giving a lead but still can't hit the damned things. I've shot now for 25 years and i think i must go cross eyed or something trying to follow in the air. I'd love some tuition but with a family I can never afford it.Clays and cartridges are so expensive and then there's a coach to pay for. I'll

Out of interest Furittus, how comes you travelled all the way from Northern Ireland to here clay pigeon shooting? That's a fair old journey!! I see you kicked your boy off the PC by the way.lol
-
I know him from on here but not personally. You're a bit far from me but he's a good contributor on here so I'm sure you won't need much help. Good luck in your interests.

Well the trouble is at £9 odd per box it would cost me £10 in fuel to take them back because we live out in the sticks.lol

Hello Polecat, It's nice to see the younguns taking an interest, I can't get my boy off the xbox (same age as yourself). Welcome to the forum!!

I was watching Gordon Ramsey on youtube last night eating rook pie and it got me thinking "why is it that we don't eat these any more?" You'd think with the recession and everything people might take the chance of food that's plentiful! but then again most people won't eat things you have to clean and prepare yourself anyway so it's a daft question I spose.lol Anyway, Nice bag there well done. -
I would say it's down to a defective cartridge. I went out to try my Dad's new gun last night and one of his lyvale express didn't fire, the firing pin had struck the top but no bang, he asked me to try it in my gun (which i was skeptical about doing) but the results were the same, so I've emailed Lyvale now as this isn't the first one we've had dud from that box. If I were you I'd keep the Cartridge and email the makers expressing your concern as that could have left your gun with damage. The fact that you hit your target tells me that your barrel should be ok though. If you tell Winchester t

Shotgun cartridges for foxes: update
shotforthepot replied to danebrewer10's topic in Reloading and Gun Maintenance
I've just read through this thread with great interest because i've recently been trying different fox loads. I read reviews online and gamebore buffalo AAA's came out top of one of them, so I bought a box but after testing in my gun the Lyvale express AAA's gave a better pattern at 40 yards. Yesterday, I tried a Eley Alphamax AAA at the same distance and that was just as good as the lyvale express if not slightly more pellets in the target (It was too close to say). My dad shot a fox in between me and him last year which the lab had put up, it was running out of sight of me and when i heard j -
Great pics, thanks for sharing with us. They make ours look like a mottley crew.lol

We have a beagle in our pack and she's just about the best there is on charlie, stopping her is the worst problem but she can get under stuff where the bigger ones can't. Hounds starting on rabbits= I've been with our pack for 30 years and some of the best hounds we've had started on rabbits as pups even though they were supposed to be out for foxes. Me and Dad often reminisce about how our old Hound would be told to leave those bloody rabbits alone. I don't think it hurts much if they start on them IMO. In point of fact, often it pushes a fox out whilst they go on rabbits.

Welcome from another virgin.

Thanks for the warm welcome Guys. I thought they were your "Y" fronts on the radiator in your pic then shaba, trick of the light though Quite right Furittus. I've been down the field trying different fox cartridges in her, I have to have the best to protect my chickens with. I read several reviews online and hunted high and low for some Game bore buffalo triple A's (Top in the review i read) and found some of them at the shooting ground too, chuffed to bits when i finally found some but after trying them out I now find that the lyvale express triple A's are better through my betinsoll

Not too far away Furittus, thanks for the pleasant welcome. I was up at the shooting ground the other day looking at the guns and came home with a Betinsolli (not everyone's cup of tea) but it'll suit my needs after shooting a baikal. When you tell people you live on a farm they think you're rich but we rent this place and I'm far from being rich, so unfortunately up until now a baikal was all I could afford But i had a bit of a windfall and now i'm loving the betinsolli "The crows aren't though"

Hello All, I'm new to the forum. I live in mid wales and love shooting and fishing for the pot, I also fish for coarse fish (not for the pot) but because i love to be outdoors. I'm usually accompanied by my 67 year old Father who enjoys the banter of our farmers syndicate on Saturdays. They're a great bunch we used to be a foxing pack but that's been banned so now we shoot Webbits. I came across the forum whilst doing a search for local rough shooting in my area, it isn't that I can't get rough shooting because i live on a farm, it's more that I get fed up going alone and to the same plac
