  1. Good point so how do people get away with having a rifle cabinet with lockable ammo box inside?
  2. Could i get a rifle cabinet and a small safe and keep both the cabinet keys and ammo in the same safe? Or do all three have to be separate from each other?
  3. I'm after my FAC for .22 rimfire but wandering what gun cabinets I need and how many? I guess I need a rifle cabinet not shotgun since they appear to be bigger and then I need another for the ammo and possibly a 3rd box for the keys to both? Also where is the best place to look for a 2nd hand one?
  4. Must admit i think a .22 rimfire would get used more since i can use it at the small bore club untill i get a permision to shoot on. Another newbie question but which is better for sports target shooting and hunting bolt or semi-auto? What are the pro's and cons of each? (sorry if its been coverd before) I hear stories of semi-auto always jaming if they dont like the rounds and would of thought it less sporting to hunt with a semi-auto?
  5. Can you still shoot pigion and rabbit with a shotgun without spoiling the meat with pellets also surely you would need to get much closer with a shotgun? Are you sure you dont need good reason, land to shoot or join a club for a shotgun licence since seems rather too easy?
  6. The bunny-vapour that results from it is rather amusing Shouldnt think theres much in the way of usable meat left after?
  7. I know the feeling still cant find any permision near me yet.
  8. To be honest it's a long way off untill i get my FAC and it will mostly be used down the club i expect. Also i may be going down the blackpowder pistol route at some point for re-enactment so seems sensible to get a FAC.
  9. Think I have found a good small bore club to join but I have some more newbie question which is better for hunting bolt action or semi-auto also I presume I would need 2 scopes if I used the gun for both hunting and a 20M indoor range otherwise mean zeroing the scope each time?
  10. I will join a small bore club if i can find one that isnt into all the bondage stuff of tieing up your arms and odd shooting position but not sure they do Hunter Field Target small bore shooting? I want to get a FAC since may get into black powder pistols for re-enactment as well. Also the amount of people saying i need a PCP for hunting not underleaver springer made me think if i have to pay stupid amounts for a PCP may as well get a rimfire.
  11. I presume the main advantage over a sub 12ft/lbs airgun is you have longer range and more stopping power. Also presume I need to join a gun club before I’ll be allowed to apply for a FAC since at present don’t have a permission to shoot on yet?
  12. Probably done to death but what is the cheapest FAC rimfire set up for rabbit & pigeon hunting? At present I have Air Arms TX200HC on 11.7ft/lbs since don’t have a FAC but was looking at getting a PCP but if have to pay £400 + for a good set up how does this compare to me getting a FAC and a .22 or .17 for hunting in cost difference?
  13. Out of interest what are the stockman’s wax cotton jackets like since already have gortex type jacket with fleece liner from Tresspass a while back but always a tad nervous of nights out around camp fires incase it gets spark burns through it and to be honest don’t often use a hood.
  14. I was just wadering how good these things are since thinking of getting a new scope for my TX200HC and thought if i get one of these it will save me pellets and be easy to ajust the zeroing quicker?
  15. Just returned from the Fundamentals bushcraft weekend with www.naturescraft.co.uk in Wiltshire run by Andy Noble. Being new to the whole bushcraft/living off the land thing I was a little apprehensive but glad I went on the course since met some great people on the course with me and the instructors like Andy, Mike,Paul, and young Kieran where excellent and down to earth and didn’t make you feel you where under pressure to do anything you didn’t want to but would help you to achieve the lesson being taught. Even when I was sure I had defective birch bark on the fire lighting lesson a few words
  16. I have a TX200HC which I use for HFT and it came fitted with a Hawke Sport HD 3-9X40 scope with the standard crosshair which I find good but it seems most people doing hunting and at the club go for Mil-Dot scopes. Does anyone use a standard scope for hunting or do I need to invest in a better Mil-dot scope for hunting?
  17. Now have insurance just joined Countryside Alliance‏
  18. Hello my name is Ian As you gather from the title I’m from Southampton. I regularly shoot HFT at tin targets with my TX200HC but as yet haven’t started hunting since need someone to show me the ropes first and insurance plus land to shoot on before I even get started. I’m interested in rabbit/wood pigeon hunting mainly since I like the idea of free fresh meat since if you kill it yourself you know where it comes from and your helping the land owner out so it’s a win win situation. Unfortunately the 2 friend I know who hunt either hunt with shotgun or ferrets so needless to say I can
