  1. coons have hands, almost, instead of paws. they can open anything, their dexterity is unbelievable. their teeth are like a larger cats, needle sharp. they can turn and grab ahold of a dog and hang on. and they are smart. one of the best workers i have known, lost his life to a coon underground. they worked for over an hour (owner couldnt get thru the roots) and by the time she got to them, dog and coon were dead. dog had coon by the throat when found...but the coon had previously punctured the dogs jugular.
  2. this is some of the very best tracking info i have found on the internet. they have good books as well as dvds. however, there is tons and tons of information/learning to be read on their website alone. John and Jolanta Jeanneny raised and train dachshunds for blood tracking/trailing and from what i am told they are very very well respected. http://www.born-to-track.com/ here are some puppy training clips http://jola.smugmug.com/Video-clips/Puppy-training EXCELLENT articles http://www.born-to-track.com/our-writing.htm

  6. 10 yo 3 legged bitch who got to cuss at the trapped coon a bit before he was released. she has passed on since. 4 yo russell bitch of mine, has seen quarry but has not been dug to yet-hopefully this winter my dear friends little hairy bitch sparkle. 7 years old, maybe 10.5 inches-but a very solid worker my first working bitch who was mostly foxwarren bred zeke, owned by another friend. 12 inch dog, good worker
  7. someone asked me recently if id seen any photos of working sealyhams or sealy crosses...and i knew that this was the place to look. i love the breed, i owned one for a few years, great dog. he never worked underground, never had the chance. but killed more than i preferred above ground.
