  7. Much of the ability and gameness of my dogs must be due to their dam "Sky". To 3 different sires 2 of which were mostly Saluki bred as well the third being A real terriermans lurcher, himself being lurcher to luecher bred she bred dogs that took fox first time of asking, this must also be proof of the ability of A.S. to breed good good game dogs .To anyone wanting to use Saluki crosses as all rounders, just get out in the field and give them the opportunity to use their nose nose and develope skills. When Celt was only 1 year old we realised his power and ability and that we should do a repeat

  13. Hold onto him and give time mate and your pup will come good and go from strength to strength as i done my saluki x dog has taken fox day and night if thats what you want your dog to do he will do it in his own time don't try and rush him ease him into it and you will have top dog to hunt with..
  14. Yeah how can he have passed judgement on something when he never owned a lurcher in particular a saluki or saluki cross yeah I will say it Has taken me somtime but I now have my saluki x dogs working with versatilty and determenation and agility that many can't believe the way they work in the field because they were bred in a way to run hare's here in small field's and on the fenlands although hare's in the area I hunt seek refuge in mountins and heather covered and stoney ground were a certain degree of safety for them for if they were down in the lower field's they would be run and hunted u
  15. I agree Poacher3161 although he was a reluctant teacher at that and he only hunted rat packs in the 70's with his terriers although I have never owned a russel I always kept patterdales and my father likes his red lakelands, and to davey there was no real offence although I did get a little annoyed at your first comment I take my hat of to people who breed and work there own type im just shareing what I have done with the saluki x dog to suit my needs of hunting in small fields..
  16. Thats fine for saturday I will tell dad he will look forward to it
  17. I stand corrected Bolio1 and I enjoyed every moment of haveing her and she has left me as a school boy with fond memories of her lamping and ferreting I even think dad mite have slipped away to shed a tear although we were her before she passed I remember walking into the front room and she lifted her head up and wagged the tail one last time and within half an hour or so she was gone but but back when I got her when I was at school which is along time ago now mind I walked her out and hunted around for hours the first I took her out lamping I had trouble carrying the rabbits home a good back
  18. To Davey listen mate this website is for opinons and experiene in owning and breeding a dog to suit there needs if you dont like it dont read it little man complex.
  19. I have had the Saluki breeding now for around 10 years and have to sing the praises of the dog for there great hunting ability and stamina as well as there strong feet and bones compounds to the perfect all round dog for hunting that ranges from ferreting to lamping and takeing fox day and night I couldnt believe my ears when a well known terrier breeder that the saluki dog ould only hunt by sight I am here to say that Mr Plummer got that wrong on everything my father was giveing a bitch some years ago by a good friend to pup we fell for the dogs ability to hunt up cover and mark burrows true
  20. I think someone flapped there lips on the men and I think every hunting man will be under the microscope
  21. To Dublin Dezy yes the dogs are there to be worked but it brings the heat on the hunting front in ireland north and south so that was quite a silly thing to say I hunt myself and I enjoy the hunt of a fox and if im honest I steer clear of the boy for these reasons me and my father will have to pull our season to a close early and hope the heat goes away
  22. They were caught with dogs in a van with a vet with the police that checked there teeth and there were badger hair in there dogs teeth
  23. I agree with you mate me and my father do a bit of hunting and we will were talking about finishing early now for the pressure will be to much even though we are honest men with plenty of permission but whoever they are they have stamped out are season before we wanted to now the heat is on and before we know it they will push for a ban here to
