there won't be many more being made harry and yes you better crack on son won't be long and this will be done maybe finish it tomorrow if i have the time
making this for a good friend on hear (longers) anyway i thought i would do another build along feel free to copy this one lads as you no i did one with the collar so same rules apply different project
right you start by taking your knife and some paper or card up to you draw a line down the middle of the paper place the knife on it so the spine of the knife is on the line then roll the knife over and draw round the knife make sure you draw another line a mm or so off the cutting edge then draw another 1/2" after that in the shape you want your sheath mine is like this
then simply fold
Mine was the wire right close to the adapter I just put block connection on hay presto job done but try getting in touch with who made it they should sort you out with one
Plz don't think you can build a collar in 10 mins you can't it takes a good while and don't rush it or you will make mistakes like I did on this one trying to get this tutorial done take your time it will look far better in the end
I know alot of you guys on hear have midnights knives well if you want a custom sheath I am doing a build along later today and I will tell you everything you need to know to make your own just like the o e on the collar I have just finished in the craft section
Thank you
If anyone tries this you are best doing a gh style collar they are alot simpler to do the sheath build will start to day I know loads of you have midnights knives so a custom sheath will be just the ticket
let me know when you finished it mate, as I've got a small blade here that I want to scale up!! I still need to send you that g10 as well mate, I'll try get it off to you this week
will do i will pm you a pic now harry
all the steps i have showed applies to all leather work so weather you make a collar or a knife sheath makes no difference the steps are the same.
will show you how to build a knife sheath if i have enough leather
my bitch is 21 1/2 at 6 months her brother is 23 1/2 mother is 24 tts sire is 24 1/2 tts not sure what hight the pups will make tbh but would like them 24 ish never had a small lurcher in my life but as long as they do the job happy days
then simply repeat it make the lines up to where you want the d ring but make sure there is a bit of gap or its a twat to sew lol use the priking iron like so
then sew again using the method of starting 3 holes back sew to the top then back stich
do all this on both sides
the strap is long now so you need to measure where the holes are and cut what you don't need off the pics a bit shit i was too close with the flash
all cut then finish off the end by dyeing it then burnesh then edge kote then when all this is done wax the collar or whatever you have made i use a old sadlers blen
the stitch i use is a sadle stitch you take a length of thread and put a needle on each end and this also shows you how to lock on ya thread
to sew you start 3 holes back and sew up and then back on your self and do the same when you get to the other end .when you have the tread like this in the pic you put the needle through one hole the the other needle through that same hole and this is a sadle stitch plenty of vids on youtube
other side sewn
then the brass keeper sewn in
on with the building of the collar i puch holes in both ends of the keeper and on the base of the collar and rivet this in place
i then take the leather strap and use this punch on it so i can fit the buckle
then i make two guide lines so i can use another tool called a priking iron this makes the holes for the stiching and a awl is used also
place on the line and tap it with a hamer you do this on both lines and and do the same when the leather is folded over for the buckle ready for sewing
