  1. Hi Bud, I work with pumps and we suplly and install 1 phase (240v) and 3 phase pumps (415v). You can mess about with it. If you take the netral wire from the 3ph cable it will give you 240V but it's pretty complicated, and not the safest thing to do if you don't know what you are doing. To be honest the best thing for you to do is change the motor on it to 1 phase motor. There will be a plate on the motor with all the motor details. If you get them and tell me what they are I can get you a price for a replacement motor. If you can't fit it yourself, sent it to me in Edinburgh and I wi
  2. No probs bud. Like I said, i'd rather someone got the use out of it as i never use it. Good luck with it.
  3. Cheers for the reply bud. I see where you are comming from. I was speaking to one of the local lads in the pub last night and he has a patterdale dog that kills bellow ground. The reason he needs a hard terrier is that he needs to guarentee the fox is killed as he is controlling vermin.
  4. I have one but never use it. It's all black leather. It's yours if you want it bud. It's just lying in the boot of my car and if you would get use of it you can have it. PM me if you want it.
  5. The only pure bred Saluki's I have ever seen belonged to Paul Sagar. He and one of his friends, whom from memory was called Lance, brought a pup up about 9 years ago. I saw it catch and retrieve a ferreted rabbit and it was pretty impressive. I don't know if he showed his dogs or not but they were defenatly KC Reg Salukis. He also seemed pretty switched on and like he knew his stuff. The one I saw seemed okay. The retrieve was notthe quickest in the world, but it still came back to hand. I think the problem is that so many people assume that sulukis are untrainable bec
  6. Excellant set up bud. It's really good to see.
  7. I have been doing a wee bit of thinking about terriers and terrier work in genral and was wondering what peoples views on hard terriers is. I can understand that there is times when you can't dig to a fox because of the location and need a hard dog to kill the fox bellow ground but when you are digging to a fox I would have thought it would be better to have a dog that corners the fox and bays at it until you dig it out? I can't get my head around having a dog that gets stuck in and ends up getting hurt while working to fox and ends up laid up till it heals. Do "softer" terriers no
  8. Have you considered a pure whippet. I thought about getting one in the past as they are excellent rabbiting dogs day and night. They are more expensive though. I really like the look of the beddy / whippet cross and am sure they are good little rabbiting dogs from what I have herd.
  9. No beep alarms for me beagles, sea trout and salmon fishing. Most of my sea trout fishing takes place in the dark with the fly. What river do you fish? I occasionally fish the tweed for brown trout.

    CATS!!!!

. Minion.....easier said than done. I run a rescue and get new dogs coming in all the time..... Sorry, I wasn't having a dig. I think it's great what you do. Certianly did not mean to cause any offence. I just ment that I can't understand why people would not break a lurcher to cats.
  11. I was just wondering what other hobbies folks have got other than working their dogs. I play bowls (the old mans type, but am only 26, sad i know) and do a bit of fishing. Also like to watch the odd TV program and have the ocasional shandy Don't have much time for anything else as I have a young daughter with another on the way. So, who does what??

    CATS!!!!

I am fairly lucky in the fact that my wifes parents have cats so I broke my lurcher to them when she was a pup. She doesn't bother with them. The guy who used to live next door to me had a ex-track dog that he was going to breed with his Collie half cross and his girlfriend let it out my mistake. It chased an old guys cat and killed it. There were kids playing in the street and it wasn't the most plesant thing. Of course it wasn't the dogs fault as it had been taught to chase a small furry object, but alot of people in the village started saying that the dog was dangerous to the kids beca
  13. I think it's pretty sad that he considered getting rid of the dog at that age. I would be embarased to admit it. That is why so many lurchers change hands because people don't seem to have patiance.
  14. cheers guys. Got it now.
  15. If you get me dimensions I can make them. I can work out a price once I have sizes. PM me details if you prefer.
  16. I noticed the [banned Text] appearing on some posts. What is banned text? I may be really stupid but can't get my head around some posts as I can't figure out what words have been replaced. Does it come up automaticly if you type in certian words?
  17. nice 1 mate had six pics but as you can see had trouble getting them on Looked like a good day though.
  18. I take my lurcher shooting with the air gun when I go out ( not often ) and have had no problems. She usually manages to find shot birds or squirrals. It's strange though as she does not always retrive them, yet with rabbits she usually brings them back withing a few meters.
  19. No probs bud. It's easy to wander away. I just think it's good to see other "types" of terrier getting worked. If everyone kept the same dogs it would be a very boaring world.
  20. Good stuf mate. I used to love going ratting. It's fast and furous and great fun.
  21. At the moment I have a citoren zara picaso mpv. It is a fantastic family car and I can fold the rear seats forward so it's like a van in the back. It's a 2.0 Hdi and I get 45 mpg which is not bad. It's not a sports car but it can move a bit. It's got plenty little cubbie holes too and I know from experiance that you can fit "big" rabbits in them and you wouldn't know they were there, which would be handy if your hunting something you shouldn't be. The only problem is that they don't hold there value very well. I paid £14,500 for it new three years ago and you'd be lucky to get a c

Just stick a tent in the back of your car and head for the wilderness. It's great fun.
