Do you have your dog boosted each year with jabs? Or just have the first course when they are puppies?

From what I can remember it is not illegal to "Relocate" Foxes, however the actual caging of the said foxes could well be an offence because of causing undue suffering, photographs of penned foxes would help your case, check with your local RSPCA to see if they know whats going on. I shot a fox with an ear tag a few years ago, the ear tag was addresses back to a Dr who ever at Bristol in my wisdom I sent it back to him, what a mistake! for the next few months urban foxes were drop off in the area every Friday night, it was only I wrote to the PO box number and told them that I was shooting 8-

I have two Ultra's a single and a multi shot, I have used most of the air rifles that are available, the Ultra has come out on top, this is a very "quick" gun to get onto target, I have shot rats rabbits and ferral pigeons with the guns with no real stray pellets both keep very tight groupings even when the charge is getting towards the low end. £350 is not a bad deal if the gun is in good condition, phone round to see what you can get a new one for.

Interesting to see the ears have gone and some plucking has taken place.

I don't think I know of anyone who is making a living from rabbit control only, rural pest control as has been mentioned in earlier posting is mostly done by a few local lads, rabbit control makes up for a very small part of my business. The main problem that I found when I got into pest control after years of Gamekeeping was shooting ferreting in fact most field sports were my hobbies, now that it's no longer a hobby it has become a chore, for instance here am I sat at a computer sad as you like trying to think of things to releave the boredum of writing invoices and quotes. I am delivering

If you have any items that are suitable for display at a museum of the countryside and the creatures that live in it that you don't want or need anymore. The John Moore Museum in Tewkesbury would like them. This is a small museum that is mainly used for educating children on all thing countyside, also a lot of tourist calling when visiting Tewkesbury. They are looking to do a"Household and countryside pests " display so any traps labeled specimens etc just about anything would be very well received. The contact details are The John Moore Museum 41 Church St. Tewkesbury, Glos. GL20 5SN Ma

Rabbit control is part of my business, last summer from one industrial complex 831 rabbits removed over a 10 week period, work could only be done at at weekends due to the bunny huggers that work there. So basically friday night shooting with air rifles, gassing on Sundays. The total bill was well over £2000 and we got to keep the rabbits that we shot. The rabbits were sold at 50p each with pelt and paunch. All in all not bad when you think we loved every minute except the gassing,( Hard work). I struggled to get help at the time. By the way the £45 is per man.

Quoting TOMO. "ALL RESTURANTS AND FAST FOOD PLACES HAVE TO HAVE PEST CONTOL CONTACT BY LAW. " Not quite right the food producer has to show "Due Dilligence" so it not law, the only time the law gets involved is if there is and infestation. However it is illegal to have a verminous premises. The chap that released the rats in B&Q must be good at trapping or very brave, 5 in one trap, or man enough to put them all into one cage!!!

I charge £45 per visit for what ever the visit entails ie. be it long netting, setting or checking traps + wires, shooting or running a dog. If it is a gassing job the Charge is £35 per hour plus £25 per gas flask used.

The bitch did come from Devon if the bloody thing would stand still for a few minutes I take a photo of her standing. I have kept ESS for 30 years these were tools of my trade as a keeper, this is the first rabbit/ratting dog i have had. I am amazed at the intellegence of the pup, she even yaps to go out, this is the only dog I have ever had in the house and what a pleasure it is to have her. Nice to hear that Jazz and Willow are doing well. PM me Ryans address I have a KC registration document for him. -

I need a good photo of a set rabbit snare including the tealer, peg and beats if possible, I have to do a presentation for some farmers so I need a picture. I don't keep snares anymore, I would have to buy some and they will look too new and shinny, any chance? I will need it before Thursday night.

When you have a broody sat on eggs put your hand near her she will peck at you big style if she is sitting tight, Swap the eggs late in the evening by taking most of hers out and replacing with some of the pheasant eggs then take out the rest of the chickhen eggs and top up with pheasant eggs, don't leave her without any eggs at anytime or she may fret and trample the pheasant eggs as soon as you put them in. You may need to tether her to feed and dump or she will back into the eggs before she has feed enough.

gamekeeping as an occupation
sidebyside replied to a topic in Gamekeeping, Conservation & Shoot Management
Sparsholt is the place to go if you can get in. As I have said in the previous posts ask what "Gamekeeping" past experience the lecturers have had. When you go back to hartpury ask the Gamekeeping staff what have they done regarding "Full time" Gamekeeping. You may be supprised how little they have done. I know of one college lecturer that has never even been on a shoot but still teaches game and shoot management. At Hartpury ask the short old timer who does part time National diploma lecturing his name is Phil Willis he will give you contact details for Robin at Tortworth est, the estate is
