  1. Stick with a HH as your first hawk buddy-trained and hunted well, you'll catch far more than I do with my Gos that's for sure! Oh but if you do choose a Gos-i'm not coming to help you look for it when you lose it,(cos lose it, you will). Jim
  2. Very . certainly not a looker and all a bit head strong for my liking. remember telling Derry Argue I just brought a Brittany!! his reply was "Good Luck" . the Visla is a nice gracefull looking dog in the field, Jims is a real sweetheart and loves him to bits and always wants to please. one dog that I was reading up on was a Labany? basically a Britt x Labrador. all sounds a bit weired I must admit but read some great reports on them in the states winning alot of trials. seems these dogs retain the pointing Instinct but gain alot of intelligence from the Lab, its a interesting th
  3. Such as? I've yet to see a better all rounder. hwv ,gwp,gp when i ran my smooth coated viz i could not fault its nose in anyway just found they seem to go lame alot in cold as though it was getting cramp, also as i say hate cover compared to other pointers out there I have to say Grovsey, I work my bitch in all weathers and she just keeps delivering.(Even on Mull-in February)
  4. Such as? I've yet to see a better all rounder. hwv ,gwp,gp Never seen a good one personally. But that's what makes this game......we;re all different Jim
  5. Such as? I've yet to see a better all rounder.
  6. Worked a Vizsla bitch with my hawks for the last 25 years or so. My latest one was bred by Seth Anthony.she points Larks, partridge, pheasant, rabbit and woodcock. I have flown Falcons, Harrises and Gosses over her.Never had a problem with her working in close or ranging out.She works well downwind too.Loves water,(even in winter),and goes into deep cover IF there's a scent there. They are great house dogs and very good companions. If I knew how to post pics i'de bore you to death, but hey ho, Jim
  7. Having a bit of a mare here at the moment Jim. the estate have decided the back trees beside the aviaries needed trimming, for two days just before xmas I had a guy working a mini digger ripping out the runners from the blackthorn/ Brambles right beside the aviaries, I don't need to tell you how the birds took to it . Now been told they will dragging the bits away to the other end of the Garden and burning it all and finally somtime soon coming round with one of them trimmer things to trim the whole lot. it don't just rain it pours mate cheers Tony Holy bloody smoke Tony..
  8. Have a look at Doug Pineo's shoulder bag-Gamehawker in the UK stock them, Jim
  9. well done Jim sounds like she is on song . think yourself lucky it was only your ear and wasn't your face again mate, she's one foisty bird like a woman on permanent wrong week . Not been out with my male since the last outing to kings lynn, since then he nailed another easy Magpie but thats about it... he's getting 10 - 15 recalls 50 yds across the garden to keep some element of fitness, he blasts back to his bow from the fist and on his way back before I'm ready but then again as you know he has always prided himself with the fist since I have flown him and flys to anyone with the same
  10. Thankyou very muchMilo.I forgot to add that when she missed one bunny, she came back to an ungarnished glove, obviously unchuffed at that,(she was too quick for me). Before i could take her jesses, she knocked my hat off and cut my ear! Bloody female goshawks-if it's not the poor dog getting it-it's me! Jim
  11. I profess I don't know how buddy,are you down soon? Jim
  12. Got out today, took the dog, had a flight at cock/hen pheasant. To no avail.Nice point and slip at a hare, turned her inside out.She caught it once, got knocked off-back at it again, but it made the bracken.Went out onto the heath and bolted one for her with the ferrets-home in time for a bath and candle lit carols this evening! Merry Chrimbo, Jim
  13. Bought her from Mick Kane last year.Parent reared/stroppy/footy cow.Slow to start, but got there in the end, how's this pic for commitment? When I learn how to put pics up!!! Jim

No need,it was made common knowledge by the man himself a while back when he was trying to pour oil on troubled waters,(yet again). Unless of course he was lying/giving out misinformation. He is very good at it after all. Luckily i've never bought a Goshawk from him-and I have the relevant paperwork for the one I own, Jim
