  1. Cheers lee. Will be using it for both hopefully. Will probably pick up a cheap (£100-£125) second hand gun to start with then move up the price range in a year or so
  2. Money is always a problem I'll drop into chichester armory on the way home.
  3. Thanks all for the advice, got a good idea on what to pick up now. Hope to chat to you guys a lot more in the future
  4. Hi All I'm in the process of getting my shotgun licence. Got the form filled out and ready to send, im no the trail of a cabinet and my springer is ready and waiting for me (he doesnt realise he wont be needed for a while but dont tell him that) but thought I would ask the more experienced on which gun i should be looking at. Ive done a little bit of clay shooting but fully intend on turning that into a lot of clay shooting and then later on a friend of mine has told me he will take me out on his permissions with him.
  5. Shame your so far from me, I would have had both of these.
  6. been doing that for well over a year but will keep trying. dont know if it will make a difference but im gonna borrow my mates land rover and use that to visit the farms lol
  7. fair enough. when i originally posted the question the wound was still pretty raw from getting my first perm stolen so the cogs in my head were running overtime.
  8. ok this might be a stupid question but i have seen alot of threads where people say they "went for a quick walk through the woods" either shooting squirrels or whatever. are these woods on peoples permission? usually when someone goes shooting at a permission they say they are going to a permission but when its a walk through the woods there is no mention of the word permission. maybe im just getting sick of mine or my friends back garden and the fact i had my permission pinched before i had the chance to shoot on it, but im gagging to get out and do some "different" shooting cheers al
  9. ive had 6 of these (plus 2 sj410's) and i love them. i dont think there is an easier vehicle to modify and fix yourself using very few tools. plus they are more than capable of going anywhere you want them to as long as you know how to drive them. looking to get a lwb for my next one, watch this space.
  10. what a read! well done lads, it was awe inspiring reading through that!
  11. cheers mole didnt think of that at the time, probably due to the rage running through me, but makes alot of sense
  12. im guess he must have known them, family/friends/drinking buddies who knows
  13. last week i bagged my first permission after well over a year of trying. so thought id better go and get a new scope (any excuse to give the missus ). anyway attached the new scope a couple of nights ago and it just needed zero'ing. called the man at the permission about 15:30 today to see if it was ok to visit tonight and zero there before i went and tried for a few bunnies. he then tells me he gave a couple of other guys permission a few days ago and would prefer it if only one set of people had permission at a time so took my permission away. i was so angry i was shaking but managed to kee
  14. great post and great pics. where about in sussex are you guys from? i tried to guess from the pics, would love to join you and give you a hand one day.
  15. i think this season and last season they have started breeding them with an american breed (blue back i think??) which makes them smaller, faster and more skitish by nature. i dont think its spread across the whole country yet but in time im sure it will. soon you will be able to easily tell the difference between a wild british pheasant and one bred for a shoot. if this were the case would it be ok to take the wild breed over the shoot breed? p.s i dont see the harm in taking one or two every now and then as long as its done legaly. nice shot.
  16. just thought i'd say a quick hello after being away for the last 6 months or so. so hi to all the old gang and hi to all the new guys, hopefully be around for good this time. p.s loving the new look to the forums
  17. hi do they come with the rings and pegs?
  18. it probably would but the farmer wont take responsibility for it, nor will the council. i havent got the money to fork out for a tree surgeon and i havent got the knowledge or the tools to get high enough or cut the tree properly, plus its not my tree so hacking away at it might cause alot of trouble for me.
  19. bollox to these forums, i post a link to a youtube page and not even that can get passed the abuse. maybe the word hunting wasn't the right word to use but is there really any need to criticise. if you dont like it just hit the back button and move on with your life. if you check his other videos he does some pretty good bits on technique and setups but i dont suppose they are as easy to criticise, and we all know thats what the people of these forums come on here to really do. sorry for the rant, but the moaning and piss taking is starting to get out of hand on these forums.
  20. im starting to think maybe i should just get a couple of decoy BOP's and stick them in the tree rather than shoot the birds. its only really the bigger birds (pigeons and the corvids) that do the crapping and i know it will start the corvids screaming for a while but i dont want to get on the farmers bad side. im confused.com.......
  21. i did think about that but then if he says no and i do it anyway and he finds out then there is no chance of getting permission. im only going to shoot the birds from the branches that hang over my garden at least that way if he does see me doing it i can maybe justify it to him. either way some birds are gonna get it
  22. well as im not a rich man, i dont know if the tree is listed or not, the field is only used to grow crops and no live stock plus i dont want to anger the farmer as im hoping he will give me perrmission one day then im just gonna have to shoot them darned birds
  23. thought this would be the best section to ask this, if not then i appologise. my garden backs onto acre after acre of fields (which i dont have permission to shoot ). on the edge of the field directly behind my garden, and hanging over my garden, is a bloody great tree surrounded by bramble. obviously all manner of birds sit in it and go about their lives like birds do, including crapping all over my washing when its on the line, all over the kids wendy house and other toys and pretty much anything else left in the garden. ive asked the farmer to trim it and he seems to think its the
