ALRIGHT MATE FAIR ANSWER.IF HES BLOWING MUCH QUICKER ID NOT GIVE HIM AS MUCH FOOD. CUT HIM BACK A BIT TRY AND DROP A FEW ILBS AND REACESS IN A COUPLE OF WEEKS. YOUR DOGS NEW TO YOU. FINE TUNEING WILL COME IN TIME . EXERCISE/GOOD FOOD/REST/AND TIME .SOUNDS AS IF THE DOG IS BETTER OFF WITH YOU.ATL I'm no expert but from my own observations of my own dogs. Since the advice on here I've swopped my dogs from complete food to mainly barf, with small amount of biscuits and veg. In about 6 weeks that I've been doing it they've all lost abit of weight - with the biggest loss being in the de -

Me with Jack russel Jess when I was 9 years old (1988) out with my Uncle Russ. I'd been fishing and stuff like that from an earlier age but this picture brings back memories of going out with the dogs. The shell suit and flat cap were all the rage! and I did grow into my ears and teeth so I don't look so much like a hobbit now! My sons birth is surrounded in lurcher tales too - I was 100 odd miles from home with a couple of mates lamping. My missus had two weeks to go on our first child and told me to go off - she'd be ok. Well f.... me - she decides to have him that night and was texting

What Age Would You Breed A Bitch Up To?
vld replied to northantscourser's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Thanks Shazza wished I'd had known that - she was such a good bitch I just wanted to keep working her and before you know it I'm thinking shit if I want a pup out of her I need to get a move on. Then there was the hassle of trying to find a dog to put over her. After the third pup she was contracting but wasn't bothering to push or anything, straight to the vets! She was a brilliant mother though to be fair and looked aftr pups v well. -
What Age Would You Breed A Bitch Up To?
vld replied to northantscourser's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Bred my bitch for the first time and only time - she was 6, wouldn't want it to be any older. She only managed to give birth to three naturally. The other 6 were by C section (3 died during it) I don't know if I was ust unlucky but I guess the older they get the more difficult it is for them? -
Why was it sold? Where did it go - contact details - would new owner let you see it run? If this is all abit vague or breeder is being difficult, walk away - I'd wait and get a pup that you can see both parents to and have a look at them working. To important a decision to get it wrong.

The point I'm trying to make is 9 times out of 10 I think its the owners fault if the dog fails to make the grade. 1) you've bought shit - theoretically if you've bought a good pup from proven workers it should turn out to be a good dog - eg build, physique, stamina, temperament etc etc - I know there are always a few exceptions but these should be minimal. 2) its down to you and your training methods. Would I keep trying to turn a shit dog into a worker, would I buggery - too much of a liabilty but I wouldn't pass it on as a worker either, thats just wrong, I would keep it on as a pet o

My first bitch was a dream from the off - obedient, loyal, good all rounder, and could see she had all the skills I wanted before her first birthday. My second bitch was a pain in the arse from the off, more difficult to train, headstrong, would piss off and come back 10 minutes later etc etc. Not as quick, nor as good on the turn. I could easily have got shut, but I perservered with her - tbh, alot of the faults were due to us not bonding (like I had with the first). Starting bringing her in of a night time - on her own - just treating her as a pet for a bit etc. The turn around in that

. Was out last night too but very quiet. Out again tonight and hoping for a bit more action. Rabbits seem very thin on the ground at moment.

Its a good start. Good on you for taking her on too.

Sounds like you are giving a good mixture of protein, fat and carbs so shouldn't go far wrong. As to starving I can see no real use to this as you just have to feed extra on the other 6 days which will overload a little more than needed and the starve day will empty the stores of energy in the muscles and liver which in turn will lower energy levels for a day or so afterwards. PS if you feed rice/biscuit etc you are not feeding BARF, you are giving a mixture of raw and cooked, what used to be called a balanced home made diet. BARF has no cooked or cereal, mind I recon what you are doing is be

Thank you for all the comments. I've got a bit of a mixed buch - my 1/4 bull is 68lb and the JRT is 17lb- they get mixed biscuits, 1lb of barf, veg and household left overs - I'm not worried about them as I leave food with them and they often goes back to it in the day - ( I know they say that you should take a bowl up as soon as a dog stops showing interest in it- but I dont) The pup is 22lb and is fed twice aday - she started life on complete food and used to eat it fine but since introducing BARF she will not eat the biscuits at all - so she's a worry - I leave biscuits in her foo

Cheers mate, will be keeping an eye on them over next few months - its abit early to tell yet - no real noticable change - except theirs less shit and what is there is firmer!
