  1. i use jack pyke trou at the moment, iv been through sharp bushes and streams, over barbed wire an lot in em. Theyre very quiet whilst walking around cos of some 'stealth' coating on em, and have a very comy elasticated waist that makes moving around in them easier than it would be with belted trousers. i wear em over top of some quick drying craghoppers kiwi trousers, just in case i do get a hole in them in the wet, which hasn't happened yet an i've had em about 2 years. they get a bit warm in summer but theres a calf length zip up the side to let in cool air if needed. i think they cost me Â
  2. Id rather wear camo and know i've done my best to avoid being seen, than not wear it, and be wondering if i should do. what I've done is thought of all the excuses I'd use to explain a crap days shooting,(arm ache, sore/wet feet, cold, lack of action etc.) and gradually try to remove them all, so that hundreds of £££££'s down the line and all the gear i can get my hands on, if i have a crap days shooting, its ENTIRELY my fieldcraft thats in question. which is probably the stage i'm now at, learning about feeding habits, roosting areas, detecting sign and all the other interesting stuff there i
  3. yeah, i've got a hills pump an its no trouble. probably even easier if you get one of those posh FX jobbies with gears in.
  4. I used to have a .177 TX200HC but it was heavy as hell and i hated it, then my mate cracked the cocking shoe by dry firing it, thus putting an end to my springer shooting days. i sold it for £100! and put the money towards the falcon, which im much happier with. the thought of having a trusty back-up springer is becoming tempting lately, not going shooting at all pains me more than paying for repairs etc.! Any suggestions for a compact, lightweight springer? I was thinking Lightning XL?
  5. funny you should say that, but it was a couple of pigeons flying off wounded that made me take the rifle to the shop in the first place. i always shoot at a range a bit closer than most cos my right eye is a bit cack and i cant usually spot things at long ranges anyway. i'd have thought at 20-25 yards, nothing should be flying away.
  6. Hi, i have a velcro strap that attaches my sling to the rifle, and i wind it very tightly around the barrel, cylinder and stock, with the buckle that holds it together and adjusts length under the stock, between the carved lip at the front of the stock, and the sling stud. It just didn't look like it'had been removed and then put back by someone unfamiliar with it . A few things set my paranoia senses tingling, like; I didnt actually see him chrono the gun in the first place, so i dont know for a fact it was ever under-powered at all and i never saw him chrono it AFTER he'd allegedly put in a
  7. thanks man, i found a falcon owners forum. someone on there said the 'o' rings are on the fill probe, and its most likely that dirt has got inside whilst i've been filling the rifle in the woods and a good blast from a divers bottle would get any dirt from around the seals in the cylinder and re-seat the seals . they also have a strip-down guide and it looks like removing the fill valve assembly to check for grime etc. is a piece of cake. thanks for your help. on a different note, i watched some video of you taking out magpies and jays at some right distance, world class mate! i cant wait
  8. thanks a lot mate. yeah, i've seen a lot on here about A+M, your video comparing those silencers nearly made me buy a Twink, but impatience got to me so i just bought one from the shop. Before forking out for postage, and being without my rifle for a while,i'd like to find out how feasible it'd be for me to fix it myself (if it is just o rings that need replacing) as i'd like to learn more about my rifle and how it works and possibly save a bit of cash on what could be minor repairs/tweaks. Do you know where i can get a strip-down guide?
  9. I just checked here and they don't appear to sell falcon spares. could there be an air arms equivalent seeing as they're owned by the same company?
  10. hi all. (sigh) i recently took my falcon PF18 multi to my local gunsmiths just to check over his chrono. He said it was pushing out 10ft/lbs. i picked it back up yesterday after leaving it with him over the weekend and he said he fitted a new 'mainspring'. I have no idea what one of these is, i thought it was only the spring in a springer that was called a mainspring. it appeared that the action hadn't been took out of the stock, but for some reason my scopes had been took off? could he have fitted a mainspring without taking the action out of the stock? and why would he have needed to remove
  11. i bought an air arms tx200hc as my first serious rifle and soon realised that, probably because of its underlever cocking method, it was way too heavy for me, and i hated it! if i could turn back the clock, i'd have bought a BSA lightning XL. a lot of people will boo SMK rifles, but my mate had an XS19 for £ 100 and he killed more with that than i did with the tx200, and you can get the XS19 nowadays with a nice stock and in-built silencer for about £200. Just try to get your hands on as many rifles as possible before you buy to see how they feel for you. and keep in mind, the most exp
  12. this landed on my balcony on the scummy council estate where i live. the missis took the photo while i was out shootin. Im proper gutted i weren't in to see it.
  13. Falcon PF18 MP with leapers 4-16x50 scope AND an Israeli special forces tactical 3 point sling, direct from Tel Aviv!!!!
  14. my mate had one of those an he shot more with that than i did with my £350+ air arms tx200hc +bushnell setup! did my head right in. this was in response to the guy with the SMK, i just ballsed up postin the reply.
  15. please, someone help! my new 4-16x50 scope's manual says to use the mil-dots for range finding, i have to zero it at 35 yards. I zeroed at 35 yards, which is outside of my usual shooting range and as a result, closer shots were going high, meaning that i'd have to compensate and use an aim point other than the center of the crosshairs if i wanted to hit closer stuff. im wanting to know if there is an alternative formula or method of using the mil-dots as aim points for longer range shots while zeroed at 25-30 yards. Apologies in advance as i realise this is quite a tedious subject.
  16. Just saying hi. Iv been hunting with an air rifle for around 3 years now, I learned the expensive way, going through a kinder surprise rifle, then a tx200hc which was too heavy. I'm finally getting the experience needed to be a confident hunter and ready to take peoples advice, at last!! I'd also like to find permission to shoot somewhere in sheffield, instead of creeping around my local woods. If someone could point me in the direction of the best place to ask on here, it'd be greatly appreciated, thanks.
