  1. sorry for my ignorance in what im going to type......i thought a match dog was still a lurcher of sorts?? still got the basic make up of a lurcher greyhound, saluki, deerhound or similair so if this is the case why is there talk of lurchers and match dogs?? i understand that a match dog is single handed daytime hare dog bred for this from other dogs that seem to do well catching consistantly single handed thats fair enough why cant a lurcher do that too?? my old saluki x would smash hares 5/5 all day/night long back in the late 90's, id of put it against anything and wouldnt of cared if i lo
  2. depending how close you are to county durham id do it cheap for you as i have all me own gear
  3. so they are taking cars and fining people to the hilt for what is really a wild animal being chased!!! i might get a pet fox and train it to chase a hare wonder if id be done for coursing then?? those dicks that decided to go for a walk down the road and decided to knock the living s**t out of 85yr old mrs.russel at number 29, to take whats left of her pension to buy a pack of fags, afterall all us tax payers pay for the tossers methadone treatment!! he could then go and beat and rape the 12 yr old who lives 11 doors down the old lady and yeah he might get locked up and charged but inside h
  4. start off treating the dog well, build a good bond with it then train it as you would a puppy, call his name even when on the lead and when he looks at you or comes the lead length give him a small bit of cheese, itl soon associate coming to you with good things, just dont bray it if it pisses you off and comes back but when you get the recall done just enter it it might mess around the first couple of rabbits but will quickly learn that its gunna get a reward (cheese) and another run the quicker it comes back i too have a sal, whip, grey his recall is ok 99% of the time now he tended to hunt
  5. i have gone for the pure saluki, only cause i have owned one and he was a superstar, picked up everything he was shown almost immediatly and yeah i know people slag them off for being thick and nervy but nope he was none of that brilliant little fella, i have been into dogs for oh 15yr but am not a dog a day type of guy as such havent ever owned any of the other breeds so couldnt possibly comment....
  6. sometimes i rekon they shake because of the adrenalin, if you grab your coat and tell your dog your going for a walk then my 2 shake, if they see a cat, squirell, rabbit dog, plastic bag blowing down the road they go into alert mode and start to shake, maybe its just like a muscle spasm?? i think as well as shit thin coats (like others have typed)and what i just typed is probably not far short of why they shake?? hth

Thought id go for a quick shine out, conditions wernt great, still night, no wind etc etc the usual,,,,,,, wasnt expecting much to be honest as my dog is a turd! drives past a field and spots a bunny so i slipped him then it stood up!!!! my mate was very fast and shot it, he retrieved it pretty impressed with him so far but the night is young jumps in the motor and heads off for my other permission, Got there and off we go, first field ran 1 for a warm up turned him 3 or 4 times and guess what.....he missed it oh dear i thought, moves onto the top fields and he kind of came to life missed
