  1. It's always the good ones that go first. Bad luck.
  2. Hob is called Raff and the jill is called Scuffle.
  3. Good pictures. Get yourself a decent spade and you'll never use one of those army surplus implement's again....

    Bolting

Don't hold back P&G... I agree with P&G and as most of us go with a mate or two, who wants to spend all day in silence? I tend to find that rabbits that have never been ferreted before bolt better than rabbits that have.
  5. Simple business economics to me, you work hard to earn your dosh and you want to keep hold of it. So you buy the same kit and save £50+, now that is the real world.
  6. Excellent posts, made by those that know what they are talking about. Chalkwarren, have you got any pictures of your tunnels in action? Why have you stopped using bodygrips?
  7. Tim, your condescending posts shouts out everything that is wrong with plummer terriers.....their plummer owners. How many generations has the Legion prefix bred since it began? Who cares how lads come by their hunting as long as they are truthful about their dogs ability? I'd be interested to know how you get around 65,000 acres properly....must be more than some hunts permission put together. I've seen your dogs at various shows and they look like a good walk would give them some problems let alone a hunting outing. I'll duck out of this thread now as the same waffle is bein
  8. Nice one! P&G are you suggesting we don't stump up £11.50 for a specially made tunnel? More pictures please on using the bodygrips. Anyone got the video?
  9. Nice one Tim "any bull terrier - within reason" about sums the job up. Bull blood , border blood , patterdale blood , beagle blood , Jack Russell blood ......Have I missed something out now?? ...... He could hijack just about any thread he choose's with that breed Rooster . How about some digging photos now Timmy , a nice little Plummer nose to nose with a red un'.Are they versatile, intelligent and adaptable enough for that?? .Nothing like some game protection control on a crisp winter's morning . LOL
  10. A big problem with the bull blood that was used in the plummer terrier outcross was that it was of unknown breeding. It was also only used because DBP wouldn't have to leave his armchair to look at it let alone take it to be mated..........! What a master plan......
  11. Tony Banks has suffered a stroke.........who's been praying??
  12. Just stick the collar on. You will find it moves underneath the ferret's neck anyway. Just make sure it can't be pulled over it's head and isn't choking it.
  13. Nice one! I also remember one time when a mate had killed a rabbit and put it in the bag, only for it to make me jump later on when I went to put another one in......
  14. Try www.k9community.co.uk as there are whippet enthusiasts on there with extensive pedigree databases.
  15. No collar or locator no ferreting excellent advice. As for keeping old ways alive pre-locator days, errr I couldn't give a monkey's ..... :11: Happy New Year
  16. a stop end is a blind tunnel underground. The ferret has either been stratching away at the rabbit's backside and the fur clogs up the ferret's paws or it has killed the rabbit and moved on. Get a locator as even if you don't dig it is handy knowing where the ferret is..
  17. Cheers for the replies. Are those canvas bags weatherproof?
  18. 17 amp it is. Now is ut best to buy the battery separate and then get something to carry it in? Canvas or metal box or belt pack? Any suggestions or hard learnt handy hints?
  19. Any boffins out there that can tell me what size battery is best for the lazerlite to last for 5 or 6 hours lamping? I am currently using a 12v 7ah and it is as flat as a fart after an hour of lamping.
  20. I got some chores done this morning and then went ferreting for the afternoon. It was a nice afternoon and I caught 5 rabbits, 3 out of one stop end!! If it hadn't been for the terrier I might have lost them. When I first broke through I grabbed hold of a manky rabbit that had been decomposing for weeks I originally thought that the hob had been chomping on the bugger! There were four bolters and the dogs missed all of them...... I shall go back at the weekend and finish the hedge, I know there are at least 4 hiding in it!! Some pictures to follow.
  21. Try a ferret with a locator collar on.
  22. Tim - it's an open forum... If it was a private discussion then use the PM facility...
  23. Tim, you paint your picture of history as you see fit and I hope you find somewhere nice to hang it!! The PTCGB began when DBP couldn't bullshit the PTA into another hare-brained scheme and he needed some new sycophants. Baldie - a good idea. Anybody got any decent red russells? :11:
