For Sale wheeler cross patterdale
Work them hard replied to rabitman's topic in Working Dogs & Livestock
Id rather save my 100 quid and get to the pub! I dont understand how so many accidental matings result in a litter of high priced pups. Im sure most decent dog men who love the sport would not have a litter from untested parents for sale it just floods the market with more crap. -

maybe if you didn't call them all cocks and go through all the correct channels, and get to know them and the land owners you may get permission on prime ground Ive been on my permission 30yrs they need to get to know you and build up a mutual trust it doesn't happen over night i know what your sayin mate but as soon as you mention dogs that aint gundogs they send you on your way , ive approached many land owners in a polite and respectfull manner to be told to f**k off , i know it takes a while to build up trust and stuff but as soon as they see a young man with a terrier and lurcher in to

I get offered a bit of ratting from time to time, If you dont mind travelling around 40 mins i can let you know if anything comes up. Its not a certainty but just to bare in mind.
-
As for respect for the land thats a big problem, you are labelled a poacher if have lurchers due to the amount of idiots out there. How often do people write on the lurcher forum about how any land is theirs at night, its not just the dogmen though local to me there is a bloke who just drives whatever land he pleases including my permission, Blasting foxes with a rifle, He makes a right mess of the land.

I dont understand some of the comments on here, to say someone should not post about shooting hares because its not to your liking is rubbish, aslong as its done humanely and within the law then why should it be a problem. Like said if its not to your liking then just ignore it, Alot are starting to sound like antis! And how can it be that people see the hare as the superior animal? It may be an athlete but it is still an animal the same as a rabbit, they all deserve the same amount of respect! A number of topics on here totally disregard respect for whatever the chosen quarry which is wrong,
-
I dont understand how so many can just claim the rights to hares, If you have the permission shoot, trap, course or whatever as long as you are within the law and doing as the landowner wishes then sobe it. I do a bit of everything trapping, shooting, dog work. I dont really shoot hares as they arent really a problem on the areas i have permission but i have shot them in the past for the pot. Why does it matter so much on how the animal is killed along as it is humane and for good reason. I treat all my quarry with the same amount of respect be it fox rabbit etc they are all living animals so

difference between russel and patterdale
Work them hard replied to cjcterrier's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
They can be basically the same it just depends on wether you get them from a good line of workers. I would always look more at the quality of the line of workers over the type of dog, But its down to you mate. Just make sure its from a proven good strong line of workers -
Nice pups mate

I only have the one terrier on at the moment and i would still never dig him sore, Fortunatley i have mates who happily lend me a dog if i was ever in that situation. If i couldnt get another dog then it would be the foxes lucky day! Theres always next time

my terrier is still sore after a dig 2days ago alli.. and his terrier is small and spanderbal so should get in FAIR COMMENT MATE, MUST HAVE MISSUNDERSTOOD YOU no worries bud wouldnt have mattered to me if i had only dug the dog 2 days ago if there a fox in the hole and my dog telling me he wants to go... in hes going....times like that you know what you have on the end of the lead imo .... You obviously cant have much respect for what you have on the end of your lead.
