  1. Course set up and ready to go. Book in 4 oclock start when 1st sheet full.
  2. All loaded up ready to go. Weather looking good for this evenings Coursing and it looks like the rain might just hold off long enough for Sundays events. :-)
  3. Unless someone comes forward and volunteers to stand at the finish line with a video camera there won't be one at POP. All the organisers at POP racing are volunteers, all takings go to the Wakes Charity and all Trophy's are donated. Mistakes happen and there will always be those that cheat and unfortunately, like most people, I cannot tell the difference between a Greyhound and a Whippet/ Grey???????
  4. Never been to this one myself but they are all the same. Pitch up at the showing rings and ask somebody. The vast majority of people will be more than happy to point you in the right direction.
  5. We are. That's me, wife, 4 hounds, sister, fella and maybe even daughter
  6. Big thank you to everybody and their hounds for making the weekend events such a success. Also thanks to everybody that lent a hand, Steve x 2, Chell, Alan, Paul, Sara, Aaron, Sue, Anne, Kev, Harry and the lads from Chesterfield that stepped in on the pulleys, bike & general leg work. Events began with a 32 Dog Simulated Coursing on Saturday evening in glorious sunshine. With some good strong dogs competing, it was a hard fought contest with all dogs coming away healthy. Even the Bull Cross that ran into one of my newly painted poles, snapped it clean in half and carried on as if it wasn'
  7. "Kin ell" better bring me bino's That'll keep "Andy" happy Roger!
  8. Yep, good day. Good pricing to get in with a car full and took home a few rosettes. Really good turn out which was good to see for a smaller overall event. Loved the vintage tractors.
  9. this is what shows should be about, a day out a bit of a laugh and a chance to show off yer mutts, it aint about rossettes, politics or overpriced burgers.
  10. At the weekend we had 4 lads with Bull X's hanging around the start line watching the racing and you could tell they were muttering "not worth racing" so we offered them a go with just their hounds. 4 dirty great big Bull X's bouncing up the track chasing a plastic bag was a sight to see, the 4 lads went away well chuffed and no blood was spilt . They deserve their own class because (personal opinion) they are a different kind of Lurcher.
  11. I was there with Lurcherworld. Didn't get to see much of the show in general. Didn't seem very big or busy. I think everybody headed for the coast as it was so hot. It was a pig to get to if you didn't know the area but a cracking setting all the same. If you want a giggle and to see the results of Lurcherworld follow this link http://www.k9community.co.uk/forums/index.php?showforum=48
  12. Yes, in a couple of weeks. It was in the Countrymans. Robinhood Shows website has the info!
  13. Gatcombe Park Lurcherworld Finals Weekend Information. CAMPING Anybody qualified intending to camp over the weekend must contact Steve (07901562934) Wednesday at the latest so that your name can be added to the list held by Security. Anybody not doing so will be refused camping by Security. BBQ A BBQ will be ignited on Saturday evening. BBQ's, Charcoal and Plates are already in the trailer. Those wishing to attend please supply own food, to be cooked, the odd roll, a bit of salad etc and most importantly your own beer. FINALLY This will most probably be a hectic weekend due to both raci
  14. Saw this at a show and the guy was doing a cracking turn over with some really good comments from owners. Sadly it was a one off and never saw him again. He was also selling good quality leather goods.
  15. The ideal show would have to be: 1. On a large field donated free of charge 2. Low stall pitch fees (encouraging stall holders to create bargains) 3. All stalls related to Country/ Game 4. Cheap refreshments 5. Entertainment for the whole family (Really difficult) 6. Ringside/ trackside parking for the for showing/ racing 7. Cheaper entry for show/ racing people (Many never actually look around the shows) 8. Something for the people that are attending just for a look see. (Now it moves away from a Country Fair?) As I'm sat here typing this I'm realising the difficulties and problem
  16. We'll be there again and at least I wont have a sore head on the Sunday as there is no entertainment Saturday night or maybe
  17. The whole weekend was relatively quiet. The Lurcher racing was busy but the showing was not as busy as usual. As you say maybe the weather had something to do with it as it couldn't make it's mind up. A good weekend on the whole though!
  18. Racing every day from 11ish followed by showing. The Coursing is Sunday only on completion of showing.
  19. Thanks for that "fast dogs" looks like all the dogs and humans enjoyed themselves in the video. Those 3 young lads at the end of the race track couldn't get enough of it.
  20. ?????????????? Racing started at 11 followed by the showing that finished at 5:30. 20+ dogs were entered into the Unders 100yd dash, 20+ dogs were entered into the Overs 100yd dash, many had 2 runs, the racing had 6 heats, 2 semis and the final, 1 false start, 1 argument. There were plenty of others with dogs that probably didn't have a go in the racing/ dash because of the "Plastic Bag"! My 6th fair this year and the best turn out so far??????
  21. GOLFERS!!!!!!!!! No better way of ruining a walk in the country than playing Cross Country Hockey. Saying that some of them courses would make some excellent sites for a Country Fair. On a more serious note I'm off to The Northants Country Fair this weekend, as a punter for a change, to show my Mum what all the fuss is about. And if she's up to it (going through Chemo at the moment) get her to show her Jack Russell. Definately NOT in a working dog category though.
