  1. loyalty and versaltility, and when youve been around since 6000 - 7000bc, you dont need to prove yourself............................
  2. bales of cardboard chips, normally used for horses, bought from agricultural and equestrian stores, it doesnt smell its dust free stays fresh for weeks, its warm and its cheap, and it doesnt get all over the place, dogs can make a nest in it, and its also pest free, six quid for 22kg bale
  3. good rabbit and hare dog x good rabbit and hare dog,
  4. very nice pups them mate, and what i personally like is you really can see straight away that they are saluki saturated,
  5. google B A R F, (biologically appropriate raw food) theres loads of good stuff you can mix up and give them, using meat and bones and cooked greens and pasta for the base, theres lots of thing you can mix with this, eg sardines eggs biscuit, tripe, etc it works out cheap aswell,
  6. thanks we will have a chat about it at squires
  7. hi he also works on his own like a lurcher so not a 1 job dog no mate despite the average salukis reputation they can become proper hunting companions, in this country, and used like this, for different forms of hunting i dont always work him on a lead a lot of his work is off the lead, but he watches me all the time, and knows the score, so he or she users her head,i bet the dogs got some real fieldcraft skills about him or her he has mate, they are missunderstood dogs, either that or i have just been lucky,
  8. I thought it might be still quite young but will mature fast Good Luck Y.I.S Leeview yes mate he is still a bit young and daft i didnt want him to get battered off hares and put off the job, but i could see he would definatley have the potential to be up for it, so this year i will get him on some easy rabbits, then build him up on some easy hares, september onwards fingers crossed, hopefully he,s got the bottle and the aggression to be consistant

  12. i am going out hunting with them tommorow, and will try to get some better pics of how we do it the problem is when it all happens everything happens faster than you can comprehend and my lad is only 11 years old so he is just learning how to take pics whilst i am bollocking him for talking or being in the wrong place which i know i shouldnt do, but thats how it is
  13. leeview this is the gos i told you about last year, (around march time) that i was going to buy off, peter gill,
  14. the saluki does the bushing, the goshawk does the killing, the saluki must keep a small distance away from the kill otherwise he will get seriously nailed in the face, the gos is a big finnish male weighing 2lb 1oz he is imprinted on me and the dog and has no fear, the bird is very possessive and could be pretty dangerous, whilst on the kill, but this dog is not possesive, and will gladly lay near the gos while the gos plucks the pheasant, later on this year, the saluki will push hares out of cover, and box them off while the gos due to its power speed and flying skill will hopefully be up
  15. cracking picture love that dog great looking dog how long take train both to work together and do work them on feather and fur hi mate the saluki is 3 years old and has been kept with and around birds of prey since i got him, the goshawk is 8 months old, i imprinted him on me and the saluki, i kept them together 24hours a day 7 days a week with me, for the first 3 months, to achieve this they had to live in the house with me, come to work with me and spend the weekends at country shows and stuff to get the bird used to people and dogs etc, the saluki is at present pushing pheasants
