yeah tell me about it !! yeah end of last season he started getting picky about the runs, gave him the summer off and he was back to his old self again, in fact even more keen to get to them, this could also be down to the fact i have the puppy at my side aswell when we are lamping but whatever it was he was playing at hes forgotten again thankfully! then he goes and gets smashed up!! hey ho thats the way it happens sometimes!! collie/lurcher yeah hes fine!! still thinks he can do as he likes on it, only allowed to give him 10mins walking a day so hes extra full of energy , as for the

Had a cracking start to my season with blue my 3/4 grey x 1/4 collie, but disaster struck and he tore his front leg and was out for a while, after a period recovering he was back out doing the buisness and bang disaster strikes again, this time a fractured leg so I knew my season was over!! I got a deerhound x pup that I have been training but never thought he would be ready to start this season!boy was I wrong, I took him ferreting on sat he bagged his first bunny that slipped the net after a cracking chase! Retrive was not 100percent as he was a little reluctant to let his prize go but I'll

The answer last time was bull x and collie x I think the collie x just won it! It wasn't best cross it was most popular x on thl!

I've got a 3 year old collie x grey he's had tendons stitched after two seperate deep cuts on his back legs he's ripped his front leg open on barbed wire, had a hawthorn embedded in his head, got a thorn in the eye, he's now off work recovering from a fractured front leg, unfortunatly my friend even if they did make leg protectors there are lots of ways the dogs get injured, its part an parcel of running dogs, get him insured!!

i like the look of thoses dogs they dont scream lurcher at you(or the gamekeeper)!! some lads round here would get a lot less hassle if they got dogs of this type!! what are they like at there job?? -
if the thiefs want it bad enough they will get it, all you can do is make it as difficult as possible for them, tattoos are an added chance of getting your dog back same with chips mine have both, and if they ever invented a tracker the size of the chip i would have that aswell!! there not there to stop the dogs bieng taken thats your job, they are there to place your dog back with you if your lucky enough for it to fall in the right hands!!! i hate dog thieves the day i catch one near my dogs i'll tatoo his forehead so all of you will know what he is !!

they are the spit of each other, the sire was 27" the pup just keeps growing upwards not sure if hes ever gonna stop lol!! all the dogs posted on this thread look great!! there arent to many people on here running this cross i seem to have joined an elite!!!!
-
never owned or run this cross before!! but have high hopes for this one!! if hes half as good as his sire i'll be a happy hunter, 9mth 25" an still growing!! still too much of a baby to do anything with!! but hes got all his manners now and has been easy to train so far!!
-
at a glance without reading what he wrote id say suluki, whippet x greyhound.
-
got a similar thing !! my 2year old collie grey is really gentle with my 5 month old deer grey x bull grey but when the pup gets too out of hand he wipes the floor with him no biting just mouthing round throat pinning him to the floor if he gets up he lets him run abit more before he starts his assult all over again lol !! he seems to be learning to leave the old boy alone but he still has his moments of braveness wich leave him quite quickly  !! as long as it dosent get out of hand i wouldnt worry too much play fighting is a great way for pups to devolop and learn about themselves!!!

after long deliberation on this matter ive have come to the conclusion that what you are infact witnessing is niether hare nore rabbit my god man i thought they didnt exist only on the television but i think you may have found the only surviving tribe of duracell bunnies most of them went flat years ago, theses must have somehow found a way to recharge and prolong there excistance!! some kind of solar power im thinking!! ahh to know how they did it?? im going to make it my lifes work to track down these elusive pink bunnies and use there power to create the ultimate lamp and battery combina

cooper101 replied to baldockbanks courser's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
no it aint the best rabbiting dogs for last hundered years have been collie xs thats not a valid argument sorry mate. 1. lamping hasnt been about 100 years. 2. salukis werent avalible in england 100 years ago to breed lurchers. all the boys used to use staghounds to course hares 40 years ago and know every seriouse course man owns a saluki x dog FACT. They dont use bow and arrow anymore they use guns, times move on ! saying that there are some excellent collie crosses still about for the rabbit man. suluki and suluki xz for coursing in a leauge of there own compared to other cr -

i did a simaler one a few months ago!! be intresting to see if the results are any diffrent!!! -
personally i would take it one step at a time so as not to confuse matters!! i would train the dog to do all these things i described above before entering to live quarry! for example if the dog catches a rabbit out ferreting and dosent retrive it the message that gives the dog is that thats what its ment to do!!!a small thing to you is a big thing to a dog in training!! its your decision and im sure there are lots of other views on this subject but thats my advice!! if you get stuck pm me and i'll try and help you along the way!!!

my brother uses this site alot and he said why dont you put an add on hunting lifeyou might find a few of them homes. so i opened an acount with the name of what the parents were. if i were asking for money i could understand people saying that im trying to bullshit.,this was a geniune accident , i didnt have any cash to do anything till it was too late so the bitch had pups, i was living in the middle of no where with seven horses and 2 dogs with 1200 rent a month and i hit hard times, since then ive sold one of the horses and moved in with my gf, work has picked up and things are back to nor -
well at least you know hes keen now!! dependant on what you want from your dog heres what i would be doing in your position! this is only my opinion and how i run dogs but i think your i need of a little help!! first things first teach your dog manners this in my books is a very vital part of a working lurcher(i.e sit, stay, recall, and walking to heel)and above all stock break them!!!! once your hound has mastered theses then move on to retriving work throwing a rabbit skin dummy or(throwing a ball or any other item the dog happily chases and wants you to throw again) this can be a slow
