  3. Reply to Farmerkev09: Due to the close proximity urban foxes live in i.e. under sheds, building voids, cavities, earths etc. they can easily transmit the sarcopic mange mite (canine scabies) to one and other. The tiny mites burrow into the skin, where they thrive and live off nutrients from the fox. It is on the skin where these microscopic mites reproduce, lay eggs and multiply. These parasites multiply at an extremely fast rate. This activity causes intense itching for the infested fox, and results in extreme scratching, hair loss, bald spots, and red and often infect
  4. I have never come across a fox with an infested wound like that I hope I never do.
  5. It would be a good idea to contact a local gunsmith to look after what you have until your cabinet has been installed and the FEO come round to do a check. What with the stresses of the move, you've got to also worry about how you are going to safely secure your guns on the way and when you get there. Would be best to call the Police Force's Firearms Enquiry Office of the area you are moving too tommorow morning and here it from the horse's mouth what you exactly need to do from the start. Different forces as we all know have different ideas on how things need to be done. Good luck
  6. The simple reason I do not release the urban foxes I trap is mainly due to 99% of them showing signs of sarcopic mange. Some worse than others. Alot of them look very sick and unhealthy. If they are released, they can easily pass mange on to other 'healthy foxes' and make their life a living hell too. As most of you know, sarcopic mange is a terrible disease and the foxes simply scratch themselves to death, infect wounds due to incessant scratching and as a result get blood poisoning. Urban foxes that are used to scavenging around bins etc. won't find much food if dumped in the
  7. This goes on alot due to Pest Control Companies advertising a "Trap & Relocation" service due to the main fact they can't get hold of a firearm or .410.
  8. So did I. Shame nobody enforces it. There are enough CCTV around to catch fly-tippers. Its pretty much the same thing releasing 'hand-reared' or relocated 'urban foxes'. The Wildlife & Countryside Act 1981 & The Animal Welfare Act 2006. As with most laws in this county, they don't mean the paper they were written on.
  9. Thats right "They need help because they were abandoned by their mums, but when they are old enough they will be released back into the wild".
  10. Found this, may be of interest. http://news.bbc.co.uk/cbbcnews/hi/newsid_8580000/newsid_8589900/8589968.stm
  11. Good work. Thats what it is. I also like the look of the sound moderator on the front of your rifle. Nice bit of kit.
  12. Just got back from the Kent Game & Equine Festival with a new rifle cover, bore snake cleaner and a bottle of caramel vodka & cider. A really nice show with all trade stands under cover, not that the weather was too bad. Loads of clothing, shooting stuff, food, drink, pet stuff, fishing, etc. Dogs are very welcome everywhere at the show. Well recommeded and will go back next year. Also running tommorow (27/03/10)
  13. That first pic looked like you were using a 94mm anti-tank heat round !!!! Nice shooting
  14. Taking the family there on Saturday. Really looking forward to our first show of 2010. Weather reports are looking good, though will still be wearing wellies, waterproofs and taking the umbrella !!! I love a good show
  15. Here is a picture of my trusty work horse. It is a synthetic Ruger 10/22 .22lr fitted with a sak moderator, bipods and Edgar Brother's scope. It is used mainly to dispatch urban foxes in traps or at a distance not exceeding 25 yards for a quick and clean dispatch. The semi-automatic makes it a very useful tool for carrying out dispatching so that if necessary a second shot can be instantaneously placed. It is extremely lightweight and very quiet using Eley sub-sonic rounds.
  16. Keeping traditions alive is very difficult in 2010. Keep up the hard work. I'm sure you find it very rewarding.
  17. I forgot to mention another great product.... Napier VP90
  18. I like to use Napier Gun Cleaner / Lub purchased in a handly aerosol can on my 10/22 Synthetic. I chases out all the 'muck' and also inhibits rust. http://www.shootingshop.com/products/Napier-Gun-Cleaner-Lubricant-Aerosol-100ml-200.aspx
  19. Very nice. A bargin at $16.49 Do they do them on ebay?
  20. Foxes and Feral Cats are pests. Agreed? They are vectors of disease causing pathogens and carriers of parasites both internally and externally. Foxes and feral cats are not routinely wormed, flea'd or regularly checked over by a vet or immunised against diseases and viruses such as Feline Aids, Parvo, Distemper etc. Domesticated cats & dogs owned by responsible owners on the other hand are regularly wormed, flea'd, receive immunisations and boosters throughout their life; therefore, where as a fox or feral cat fouling in your garden would be a direct health and safety hazard
  21. Can't believe what I just read No wonder the anti's think we are all like Mr. Fireman. We all get tarnished with the same brush with that type of comment. I don't want to be in your gang. That post should be removed by the moderators in case it gets copied and reproduced elsewhere.
  22. Funnily enough, I called him today for some advice following an enquiry from someone in Enfield with a vixen and cubs underneath the front of their house under the floor boards.
