  1. Dan , do you not use a dump box ? How do you release ?
  2. But some are more equal than others!! The first and last Hunt Ball i went to, i got looked down at as i did'nt speak with a plumb in my mouth. Sad but true, i was snubbed by most . it would have been worse if you had both plums in your mouth I'd have to be double jointed to get my plums in my mouth Tom You'd have an excuse to never leave the house....
  3. I had a blue gyp Stag shot last year that was in pursuit of a coyote . The ranch hand that shot her said she was chasing cattle, which she was not as the pasture she was shot in had no cattle on it in the first place. By the time it was all said and done I was reimbursed for the dog and the guy was in the unemployment line by Monday morning. His employer was with me at the time.
  4. Good job ,fellas...be joining you soon enough.
  5. I think in the capacity that she wants this dog, it might not be the right fit. I don't think ruining is really a consequence. If it's showing aggression at 5 mos. than he's revealing a very serious character flaw. Some dogs have 'em.
  6. well if you want a explainion he will snarl with full teeth and growl then launch at people including me Yeah...that's not good.
  7. That's where my biggest concern was ,too . Breaking a dog to a lead isn't rocket science , but an agressive outburst concerns me some.
  8. Thanks, whin. I hadn't thought about any of the curs in awhile.... than ran across a fella last night getting ready to turn his out in a canyon after hogs. Was curious if anyone in the UK has 'em.
  9. That's a good point... I've had gun dogs and hounds alike that no training agenda or trick I knew could produce a huntable dog out of that particular pup. It's maddening, but some do end up in the discard pile.
  10. Hey Mickey, The lead I was talking about is available through Lion Country Supply and was designed by Delmar Smith. Go to their web site and check it out. I prefer it over any choke or pinch collar. It's essentially just a 'piggin' string (rodeo vernacular) with leather stops. I've made a few at home off that design.
  11. Leanne, For just about any head strong pup where I am not seeing the results I like with a choke type collar, I switch to a Smith Wonder Lead . It's kind of hard to describe but it is made of a stiff ,springy cord similar to a lariat. It fits up snug right behind pup's ears and puts pressure right there. Sensitive spot , but it releases the minute you release tension or pup quits resisting. Kinda concerned about his aggressive outbursts though. Dunno what that's about.
  12. A pretty popular big game dog here .... was curious if anybody used Catahoulas in the British Isles.
  13. I am a big advocate of keeping gundogs in the house. Seems to make for a better overall dog. They seem to listen to instruction better, are easier going , and just all around better behaved.
  14. They are smallish...if you shoot one over 40 lbs than it's a big coyote. And during long chases they do seem to have enough cognizant thought to create a situation that gives them a bit of an advantage.
  15. Weird...have been cases of young ones attacked. But a healthy adult woman fatally attacked ? Strange...
  16. Not sure I even understand the question....12 ft lbs. is 12 ft. lbs. .... caliber makes no difference.
  17. Fair play AAnd to that end..... Along the turn of the century , a saloon and whorehouse failed to pay their taxes and it was confiscated by the US Govt who then opted to run it. In a year it went bankrupt. Goes to show you....the Gov is inefficient even when selling booze and p***y . aaron they named it the whitehouse right Yep...the other one they put a Dome over and called it 'Congress'. Been screwing us for money ever since.
  18. Jagds are a bad ass little dog... someone forgot to tell them they're little. Some guys use 'em for lions and bears and say they tree both quicker that regular hounds.
