  1. well , iv been shooting for quite a few years now and am warming to the idea of lurchers.But to be honest i dont have a clue !.Got a few questions . Can you get a lurcher that can run rabbits/hares/foxes or do you have to get different sized dogs for each quarry , also i like the look of the collie crosses , can they run everything and whats a good size. i might sound stupid but you've gotta start somewhere. oh and another thing what do you feed them on , just normal dog food ? And do you have to do much training , if so what ? cheers
  2. im a farmer and dont mind lurchers at all when there owners have permission and there dogs are stock proof. But we've had lads lamping and the next morning we find sheep with broken or badly wounded back legs , these are the lads that spoil it for the rest of you. But we still let lads on who we can trust.Farmers usualy stereotype people with lurchers because of these stories of people poaching and wounding or killing livestock.
  3. i got mine from ryan scales and its just started its first season and seems to be very biddable and is working well. Its manors are sorted and im working on the sitting to flush.
  4. sounds like a good weekend ! , im lamping tonight , then driven shoot tomorrow and lamping again saturday night , then on saturday going foxing all day with the old 12 bore and might go lamping again if im not shatterd
  5. well , i cut my finger off when i was skinning a hare and it hurt like f*** ! but not nearly as much as when the nurse cleaned it up with antiseptic .
  6. 12g,clay pidgeon, rough shooting, .22rf, .223cf, lurchers terriers whippet, mainly lamping mate, yeah half cousin to that crazy bunch, but good lads I've just clicked on who you are , i once watched you with your lurcher at my uncles at hayton ! where you shoot clays at ?
  7. fresh water usualy. salmon trout and grayling . mostly fly but i do a bit of spinning worming shrimping aswell. where abouts you from pal , you fish ?

  11. i also have similar problems with my cocker , its a 14 month old cocker spaniel and it used to come back to 3 pips on the whistle but now when hunting it totaly egnores me and doesnt even listen if i shout my head off. So i have started running over to it and checking it when it doesnt return to the whistle , but to be honest this does no good what so ever.This is my first dog and i am only 16 so dont have much experience with gundog training.Also i once attempted teaching it to stay by picking it up and putting it back in its place when it creeps forward, i did this for 2 month and it never g
  12. Just thought i'd say hello to the forum members. I'm 16 and live on a farm in cumbria , im obssesd with shooting,trapping and fishing and cant wait to get invovled in some discusions.Any other members from cumbria ?
