    the moleman as he calls himself comes from my neck of the woods. the traps he sells for £4.99 retail to the general public from a company in Thetford norfolk for £2.99 the conning git. they are made by a company called STV and most will know their products under the banner of The Big Cheese company. google them and if you do wish to buy direct you will save yourself a small fortune, but remember cheep is not allways best

    this time of yr always sees their habbits change, reluctant ti bolt. try using the smaller nets to disect the warren and have a look at if you have made to much noise or if they have senced your there. this can often cause them to hole hope but mostly its due to the time of year as most ferreters will tell you they choose to hole hop or not bolt this time of the year.

    most if not all of my mole work is done on domestic or small tennant farms and round this way we dont have any badgers so i can honestly say ive never lost a trap to a badger, as far as i know. I have however lost many to thieving foxes as you see the prints in the ground. the strangest thief was a tree rat, i saw it dragging a duffus along with the dead mole. this happed 4 times in the same hotel garden. it was soon stopped by an .22 AA Diablo field traveling at about 750fps

    wrong way round buddy. you let the rabbits get out and feed then quietly set the net between the feeding rabbits and the safety of ther burrow. take a long walk around them so you dont spook them then walk them in towards their burrows where they get caught in the net. i would strongly advise you to get hold of a dvd or 2 that show night time long netting.

    halfinch.... by the sounds of it your proberbly right but does it do anyone or the site any good for members to publicly rip a member apart? as has been said look at the state of the dog sections, i run lurchers and dont even bother to go and look at the lurcher section because of all the slagging and bad feeling typed on the threads, its not what i want to se on a forum. and anyway speed is uniportant regarding net making as you and others have allready said.     your right there rolfe no need to turn it into a member bashing thread as some seem to delight in doing healthy debate is what its all about and why shouldnt it be? thats how they work best. as for the ego bashing bit of my post, wasnt aimed at anyone in perticular just a comment made about how this site seems to be becoming. and like you rolfe i to enjoy net making and dont see the point of rushing something you enjoy doing but like i said with yrs spent with the needles you will gain a speed if you want it or not its still there. not wanting to sound like an old granny HAPPY KNITTIN

    who said anything about knitting a net in a rush? its just a progression of a skill and i agree with you about turning this into a speed thing, but what i dont like is the way this site is becoming a place where members can satisfy their egos by bashing other members, is going to ruin this site beyond repair.

    you folk shouldnt be so quick to judge people just to shut you all up i can knit a 4ft 18 mesh deep shaped purse net in 20mins plus 5more to ring it and line it. AS WITNESSED AND TIMED BY STU YOUNG ON HERE so perhaps when a young lad says his dad can make a net in 20 mins he meens he can knit the net in 20 mins? edited to add. and no theres nothing wrong with the quality of the nets at the end, its just after 25yrs of making them you do build up a bit of speed
