    A couple of year ago one farmer in the ardee dromconrath area approached a group of lads out hare hunting.He was only goin to tell them to stay out of the land where he had sheep on ready to yain.They were north lads and they turned on him one actualy struck him with a paling post.They just about left him for dead,he needed a blood transfusion to save him.Now im not running down the north people but that was bad form,they also told him they would come back and burn his house and sheds.Its these sort of pricks that will ruin all types of hunting,and id bet any one of that lot on there own if fi

    l hunt in and around ardee but on permission ardee is hot for coursing and there been few story's off people getting there cars and vans done not by antis but by other people out hunting and coursing men .There is plent hares in and around ardee not as much as years ago but still loads about.

    Good post. That about sums up the hunting for the irish hare over here in Ireland. No easy and not many lads that come over from uk ect, can get them with their dogs in the winter. If you thought it was hard in the north of Ireland, you should see some of the land down south, night mare! not many good places up here in the north and if there is there all hot thats way most head down south every week.

    just build her food up as the weeks go on try get as much protein as possible into her nice warm place for her and the pups and coming up till the birth few warm baths makes the bitch relax for what up ahead.Did you worm her yet if not give her good worming and plant fresh water and just keep eye on her in-case she gets into trouble during it

    Most off the spots l have been on in the past 3 weeks there all in pairs or more and caught few with young in them or looks like they have just had them. Dont think all the snow we have had as help the hare feeding ways prop killed most off the weak ones but would say they where not get the feed that there use to at this time off the year so would not be as strong running ways

    A dog from 8 till 20 months is just learning what they are breed for.I think dog should be aloud in its 1st season to make mistakes and learn from this also the owner.After the 1st season is over the dog should learned about gates fences ditches livestock etc etc.Then in his 2nd season a dog should be judged at the end off it if it has it or not

    get straw and where you took the bone out put straw in and fill with salt as much as you can and tie at top leave for about month or hung up where there air can get at it in shed or something

    Must laugh at most things you hear on here not going lamping no wind now not going lamping its to windy :toast: most people on hear must only get out twice a season waiting on the perfect night or day.If its windy bit wet and dark what more you want for nights lamping. Only time its too windy is when its too wet

    Starve dog yea that really smart,then feed it 2 bunnies every 2nd day,what load balls then when dog starts picking up rabbits it thinks it can run off eat them its only pup some pups take longer no rush as the whole summer till learn. Starve a pup never heard anything like it

    I`m not sure you`ve caught the point of this discussion. This is not about catching hares. It`s about some of the types that have bene getting lurchers lately. We ,hopefully ,have got past the trackie comments that I made and are onto the main point, which is about elements of the lurcher world that are not into it for the sport. ATB topic is about hare dogs and the bull shit begins read pages and half heard the rest before the fella wanted see some hare dog so lets see them oh for got no one hunts hares or foxes or deer we just keep are luchers for rats and rabbits

    Only 9 months mate my mates pups where all lifting rabbits by 8 months and my pup didn't want till know.Then at 11 months old out for mooch she lifted her 1st rabbit and as not looked back since some pups just take longer

    another pup tried to early and will be in the for sale section soon do people not learn and later down line he gets older could take a dis likeing to them because he was hurt by one so young
