  6. I have heard that Ivomec pour on (the cattle agricultural stuff) works really well and worms them and flee's em etc all in the same application. Use a pipet and put two rain drop size droplets on their backs - job done. As i say, never tried i myslef just what i have heard works
  7. Thanks to you both for your advice, its very useful indeed. I have only ever bred albino - albino, or polecat - albino, but have acuired a silver jill and a black eyed white jill and fancy breeding of both as i could do with a few more ferrets. Are there any do's ans dont's with breeding the black eyed whites as she too is a good worker and i would like to breed more as they are very attractive? Thanks again for all your advice

  9. HI, My silver jill is just starting signs of coming into season, and im wondereing if anyone in north wales / north west area would let me bring her to their silver hob to be lined? Im after a really good strain and type of silver hob as this jill is a belter, i would be willing to pay well for the service of the right hob. thanks lads and lasses
  10. I have recently bought some 'greyhounds' (3 jills and a hob) of a bloke in doncaster, they were advertised in the CMW a few weeks ago. I saw all his adult stock to include some 20 odd females in a court and hobs too. They were all of a greyhound type i.e long slim and very fast moving and appeared to be breeding true to type on the whole. He advertised them as being the old greyhound lines and from what i saw i dont doubt him. My own opinion (and its only my opinion) as with any genetics and stock selection you can breed a 'type' of animal. If you breed from long slender ferrets in the m
  11. I just want to say a big thanks to all of you who have replied, all your comments have been very useful indeed and are valuable pointers. As mentioned i have only ever fed fresh, but now feeding frozen (defrosted) will make things much easier. Thanks to you all for your commets
  12. Hello all, I have always fed fresh meat to ferrets, but i just want to ask your opinions as to feeding rabbits & pigeons that have been frozen then defrosted? Im just thinking if it would do em' any harm as i often get more then i can feed in one go and this would be a handy way of keeping them. Also if it is ok to do so, should i leave the skins on the rabbits (but still gutted) and the feathers on the pigeons?? Thanks for your opinion
  13. Thanks to everyone who has left an opinion on this topic, all your advice has been really valuable is is helping me decide, perhaps i should have mentioned that they will be used for mainly field work, and only th odd race at a country fair etc for a bit of fun. Thanks again for all your contributions and any advice on blood lines / breeding i should look out for (or avoid) will be gratfulle received! Thanks one and all - happy hunting
  14. coursing arent faster..track are faster but dont have as much stamina as the coursing..coursing bred hounds are bigger, stronger and dont injure as easily as the track hound....depends what you want mate... do you want lightly built dogs with more speed maybe a bit less stamina that may tend to injure easily? or do you want a slightly bigger dog with a bit more stamina, may not injure as easily but maybe not as fast? personaly i would go for the coursing hound as they may be alittle stronger..you wouldnt even notice the difference in speed when crossed.. atb mate Thanks for

  18. I have had a fair bit of experience with lithium batteries, as i used to race enduro bikes in night events using lithium powered lights. (not as much fun as chasing four legged things at night i must admit ) They are fanastic batteries in lots of ways- dont get me wrong, but what deben and the other companies dont tell you is lithium batteries loose 20-25% capacity every year (even when stored correctly), so effectivly this is how mush lamping time your going to loose, so a 4 hour battery will only last 2 hours in its second year. Also the temperature you store them has an effect on their
  19. cant see why the lithium last longer than a 14 amp ,been out lamping for 3 nights about 10 hours in all and battery hadnt even lost any power on the beem and was still going they will last all night from dawn to dusk . they are so light you can just pop it in your pocket and away you go only down side is the price but still worth every penny imo just what he said mate,he's getting about 3 1/2 hours out of his,he must have a faulty one,you must have an exceptional one cause no one i've spoke to wid them get 10 hours out of there's.how long of them 10 hours you were out was the lamp on for
