    The local pound most likely as per seen it over and over again with silly mixes.Sry mate but cant afford to take your dog to the vet dont have it simple as that.I ALWAYS find the money to have my dogs sorted if it needs done.You now have right up to a week before a bitch whelps to get the jag to terminate the pregnancy and i help rescue dogs and get really sick of seeing these mistakes happening I had a bitch and a dog living together and found a crate and soem dog gates proved useful for when a bitch is in season.     A true example, one of the best spaniels I ever owned, a kennel dog ,12 years old.If I took it out working it couldn't walk for 3 days, if I kept it in the house it peed any where it liked, mainly on furniture, it would actually jump up on to the sofa for a piss. If I left it in the kennel when I took the other dogs out it would scream like a banshee and rip everything it could to bits. It had one last day out, while it sat contented beside me looking into the distance, bang ! the lights went out. I had tears in my eyes all the way home, but that dog was better off dead. Very honest

    I agree totally that hunt kennels have no option but to PTS, also I am sure that some lads have to be practical when it comes too been dogged out, that’s life.

    i get what you are sayin but my bitch is the first working dog i have from day one and i have been thought my share in shit dogs but she has learnt me a lot about hunting so she will stay with me untill i can see she is in pain and the time is right I've nothing against anyone keeping them on mate, but then I've nothing against anyone that chooses not to. Mind you dont fall off the fence

    Now that the season is almost upon us I would like to know what expectations you may have regarding your new blood for the season, and any pics would be nice, I don’t have any pups to bring on this year, but am looking forward to bagging as many bunnies as I can, plus the odd Charlie.

    I think you have to be realistic when it comes to dogs that have come to the end of their working days, not everyone can afford them the luxury of the paddock or sofa and yes I totally agree with your views regarding this issue; it’s a very touchy subject. On one hand we have a dog that has enriched our lives and has become part of the family, I think that only the owner will know how best to handle this situation when it arises, and I am sure that he will have the dogs best interest at heart.

    Would like to think that they are looked after when they reach the age, but also understand that some may have to be PTS, thats life.
