  1. frank buck and cyril breay never had patterdales they were fell's or working terriers of various shapes sizes and coats alright then hedz31 you clever twat he had black terriers from buck/breay it seems you no so much why dont u define what a fell terrier is ? i was always under the impression that they are a mix of either border/lakey or patt/lakey . i thought buck/breay used patterdale blood with bull added to it...... forgot to add..... if buck and breay didnt have patterdales then why did dave himself tell me that thats what they were ?
  2. he's not from kent he's from leicestershire..... dave hasnt got terriers anymore .....back in the day he used to have buck/breay patterdales before moving onto plummer terriers. dave and his friend joe wooley started the coalville rat pack and at the same time started to breed plummers , this where the famous plummer coalville billy comes from .
  3. i would say he will be broken/rough coated mate
  4. that long tufty fur on top of his head is a sign of rytex ......looks a smart athletic type mate....wouldnt mind putting a dog like that across my spaniel bitch next year.....has he done any proper work ? beating ect ?
  5. like the sound of this cross and look healthy pups , good luck mate
  6. iv had this disease , caught it via a bird of prey that we had been using for ratting , fecking horrible disease made me feel like shit , whole body aching , tired , severe flu symptoms . i went to the doctors and he confirmed it to be leptospirosis and gave me a strong corse of anti-biotics , do you think id have any sort of immunity to it now ?
  7. cheers for the replys folks , i thought there would be a massive variation in the first crosses more so because say you were breeding first cross beddy greyhounds the beddy sire could be 16 tts where as the greyhound bitch might be 26 .
  8. would you say that you get more littler variation difference (height, length of back, weight ect) in first cross dogs such as a 1st cross beddy greyhound or more variation in a lurcher to lurcher cross such as a saluki/whippet/collie/whippet/grey x deerhound/greyhound ?? cheers folks
  9. 2000 reg escort van......not a rot box either like most of them ??
  10. what do you mean put the work into them that they need ? ......i dont mean this question to sound brain dead but i was just wondering if you mean correct entering methods or more work than other breeds in order to make a good worker ?? sorry about the questions
  11. got myself a red lakeland x russell dog .... hes gamekeeper bred and off stock that is doing the job they were bred for....i will be using this dog for earth work , so i would just like to hear from those who have any experience with this cross whether it be positive or negative......YIS lloyd
  12. iv heard that edrd are holding a show at ashbourne 2morro ? if this is correct could someone tell the post code and opening time please ??
  13. cheers for all the replys lads ,,, wirral countryman i was just asking about plummers not "spouting out stereotypical rubbish" so i dont no where u got that idea from ? cheers folks
  14. my personal preference would be a mix of beddy , whippet and greyhound between 22-25 , as iv already said though this is just my choice of dog for general all round work and pot filling edited to say that my choice would have to be a long backed dog with good structure and feet
  15. everywhere you read that plummers are shit , there not hard enough , there too leggy all that sort of stuff ,, they may be softer than other breeds but is this always a bad thing ? . are they really as bad as everyone makes out? or is it that half of the people slating them have never tried one but just slate them anyway because of a disliking to the bloke that developed them ? and before everyone starts moaning and saying that i must own plummers..... well i dont ! just curious about the breed . also even if they arnt as hard as patterdales or lakelands generally , could they still not be use
  16. Don't fancy a full spaniel or beagle really to much energy in the spaniels round the house and the beagles tend to go off on a sent , so I'm tuold any way lol " the last 6 words say it all haha ..... well mine must not be spaniels then seeing as though they are all quiet in the house and are no trouble at all ,, and who told you that spaniels dont make good ratters ?
  17. cheers for the replys lads , i know what you are saying about russells but im struggling to find one from good working stock and also i cant think of anything worse to look at than a short legged out of proportion russell haha
  18. alryt folks , been thinking for a while now about getting a terrier , it will be worked and on a regular basis . i want a dog that will bolt for the lurchers or bay so obviously dont want something too hard ! ....anyway a red lakeland dog pup has come along aparently from working parents and i maybe goin to have a look this weekend , however if it turns out that its parents do not work then i wont be having the pup , my purpose of this thread was to ask the lads "in the know how" is the lakeland the ideal terrier for this job or on average would the breed be too hard ? obviously every dog is
  19. is that dog remus mate ? edited to say ,,i mean the blue bull cross with the collie bull cros next to it
