  1. Thanks. There's another one for me to look at. Anyone with NGO or know what they are like?
  2. My membership with BASC is up next month. Just wondering what people's views were on the best organisation to go with. Was planning to stay with them because I have been pretty happy with them thr last 2 years but don't really know what the others are like. Ta
  3. Saw a load last night for the first time in ages. Snow was melting and they were munching away. Sadly I was driving home from work!!
  4. Just re-submitted mine (Royal Mail lost the first one!!). Will let you know how it goes. ETA - This is with Thames Valley.
  5. Frankly domestics are a really touchy area so you really are going to have to speak to your local force. I would think that given that it was such a sort time ago they will not be too keen.
  6. Straight BOP then not linked to an "offence"? If so I think it will very much depend on the circumstances as BOP covers a very broad range of behaviour. Speak to the relevant force department and run it by them. Sorry not to be more help but BOP can cover a lot.
  7. When you say done - what happenned result wise.
  8. Unloaded is, covered isn't - strictly speaking. There is no specific requirement to have a firearm covered when transporting it. Obviously, you aren't going to get away with walking through the streets with an uncovered firearm because you will get done with something like breach of the peace and have your cert pulled, but there is no specific offence of having an uncovered firearm in a public place. The good reason requirement relates to having a firearm and ammunition suitable for use in it in a public place without reasonable excuse or lawful authority. Just having a firearm on it's own
  9. It is also important to note that even if you are a certificate holder for the firearm you are carrying there must be a good reason for it being in your possession at that time. As correctly stated above - unloaded and covered is mandatory.
  10. I went beating for the first time ther other day. For an activity that should in theory be quite boring - it certianly isn't. As previously mentioned it's all about the company and avoiding the deer running straight for you
  11. You have gotta say PCP would be better. Why do you want a springer?
  12. Thanks for your replies gentlemen. JamieG you are pretty much correct though if I am understanding correctly it is a letter to say that I am a safe shot with the 22LR anywhere rather than just the land itself. I might give BASC a quick call and see what they think about the whole thing.
  13. I'll have to try and get some more land
  14. So you can't have an interest in current affairs unless it directly affects you?
  15. Just caught a bit on the news about power being transferred to Scotland for such things as National Speed Limit, other motoring offences but also banning/restricting airguns. Anyone know what the proposals are? I checked on the BBC website but it didn't go into much detail.
  16. Very close, I was recently aproached by someone needing a letter or mentoring for the .17HMR. I agreed to help with the letter, but only on the basis we did it right, so I took him up to my club to be checked out by the RCO and other officials, and then a few weeks of hunting trips out. Job done, he actually called me yesterday to say his FAC had just arrived! Thanks for that. I had heard of mentoring for deer but not for this.
  17. I sent off my FAC and spoke to my FEO today. I asked if the land I shoot on has already been passed and he said that it had but has an endorsement on it for experienced shooters only. I have to supply a letter from someone who I have gone shooting with on it who is happy to vouch for me or I have to have a mentor condition. I have been on it with one of this forums members but not sure that it would be enough to count. Anyone else had this?

  19. Hi all. I have had a bit of a long abscence. Now I am back and went to see some of my permissions and he is desperate for me to get to the birds. 21. Well I went out last night with a little help (you know who you are). Feeling a bit more positive about it and may have to invest in some lamping kit. Many thanks for the help. I will will work out how to get round it eventually. The pigeons aren't as clever as I thought either. Nothing a shottie wouldn't sort
  22. Davy you have PM. The rest of you guys thanks for your suggestions. I think the best plan is bed in and wait. As they have punters during the day traps etc are out. Lamp may be good. I think sit in a bush and try not to sleep
  23. My permission allows a guest. Why not. Let me know some free dates.
