I think it's far easier to talk of catch rates with the coursing types? 2/3 or 5/5 and so on but rabbits and lamping I don't really think you can? Certainly not on big hauls? Would I rather have a dog capable of taking 18/20 bunnies or one which could bag 50/65? I'll take the 50 dog thankyou very much lol. ATB Andy

Sounds like he was a machine Border Lad? Once again only good reports of them? Has any more of this type ever crossed your path BL over the years since then? If so how did they fare? Do you think there would be a high litter wastage from a litter of 1st x's or no more than the norm of any liiter? ATB Andy.

I was saying the same to Tomo on the phone earlier today Freelance about a 1/2 x or even a 3/4 bred Grey/Lab put back into some decent lurcher breeding..i'm quite intrigued by them in truth..i'm sure Tomo was saying Jeff Burrell was breeding 1st x's many many moons ago so there's every likelihood that the Tumbler's that he's associated with may very well be carrying Lab blood? Moscow,you could very well be correct but it's not something i could say with any definitive proof? ATB Andy.

I was just looking for a bit of info on the use of Labrador blood in a lurcher..i have seen one 1st cross although this was 35 years ago lol,he was a cracking dog or atleast to us young lads back then he was,real fast with plenty of drive and very biddable too,if i'm correct i think Dodger's dog Topper has Labrador in his make-up somewhere along the lines too? I've seen him at graft and he was a very good dog,very obedient,worked fantastic,stamina aplenty...infact of the few i have known or heard of i haven't heard a single bad word for them?...why do you think they ain't as popular as perhaps

i was thinking that lol..had a cur cross catch loads during the day and NEVER in a month of Sunday's could it get to 50 infact it wouldn't get to that speed lying in the back of my scrap heap of a car with my foot flat to the floor lol ...ATB Andy.

I think they were a canny litter (Maurice's) to be honest Reddawn..just as per the norm some of them just got wasted by part-time owners lol..they were all big strong dogs apart from the one we got off Joe but she was a cracker..wasn't bothered by ANYTHING with teeth and could and did run until the sun came up lol...ATB Andy.

cheers mate yes maurice is her sire Good blood in her for sure SD .. we were fortunate enough to run Maurice's litter sister until the shit hit the fan and she was an absolute machine..hope you get to see Jenny in a similar light that we did with our bitch albeit for not as long as we'd of liked! Be great to follow her progress through the winter..if not via openly on here then pm would be great,it's just my old dogs are bred into yours via Maurice and i always like to take an interest in how they come along? Penny,do you think then thats why the majority of the "big names" have been coursing bred dogs because they were seen by more people what with running competitions and such then? Or is it that coursing dogs are just better full stop lol and therefore deserve all the plaudits? ATB Andy.

Thats exactly what i was meaning in my 1st post when i said about owners with the gift of the gab..some folk on the strength of perhaps one good shift from the dog they then hype them up to the point when they convince not only themselves but everyone who is prepared to listen to their shite that the dog is the be all and end all in lurcherdom and thats more the case via the internet! I'm not saying this is always the case with these dogs which are spoken of so highly but there is no doubt that some dogs who are given the pedestal treatment are nothing better than your average cur imo?
