Delighted to hear that FEEDWELL and Martin Lavery have added to the prize fund so there are excellent prizes to be won but more importantly everyone who comes to the show, enters their dogs or purchases a ballot will be helping a brave little boy try to lead a more normal and active life. https://www.(!64.56:886/pages/Great-Game-Fairs-of-Ireland/366710296491 Let us demonstrate that the terrier, lurcher and whippet fraternity and indeed the whole country sports community can put differences aside for such a good cause.

Thanks Springer - hope you didn't mind the lengthy response but there has been so much misinformation put about, about my personal involvement in terrier , lurcher and whippet events, competitions etc that I really did feel a full explanation was necessary. Basically with the motion to stop hunting with dogs going round the councils on its way to Stormont - the terrier, lurcher and whippet fraternity needs to cultivate the best PR image possible. Paul Pringle , our magazine editor, and I stand by to help create this positive publicity. We are simply not interested in getting involved in publi

Springer, Firstly: I have seen posts for a couple of shows this weekend but as of yesterday only one that claimed to be for charity and that is the one in our local area in Down.. Perhaps you would explain which other event you are speaking about? Secondly: each year we put aside a sum of money from which we sponsor various events - both charity fund raising and fund raising for country sports clubs/organisations; and we sponsor in a small way some events in our local area. We don't 'REWARD' any events or event organisers. Once this small sum of money runs out we look for other ways

Since this is one of the last NI qualifiers for the Five Nations Championships for Terriers & Lurchers at the Irish Game & Country Fair planned for Birr Castle on the 29th & 30th August and because the show is a charity one in aid of a young boy from the 'home of the Game Fair' in Randalstown, Irene has suggested that the Game Fair team should donate £100 straight to the appeal and £50 each for the top lurcher and the top terrier who will qualify for Five Nations Show Titles at Birr. I have looked at my piggy bank and I personally will donate £20 & two Birr tickets for the top

Sammy, Results will be posted on the Game Fair web site next week. Great to see you and the team rom Forest Lodge there enjoying yourselves - one of my happiest memories of the fair was when I was rushing to the car to get something I turned round and there was you and Linda BBBqing for some very special people. I know the kids were treated like VIPs everywhere they went. I think their presence brings out the best in everyone.

can you not get hairy dogs that are 7/8s greyhound ??? Chid, The race organisers will make the decision on the day about what way this race should be run. -
Facts, Your name appears a total misnomer. This conversation is at an end - I won't comment on tittle tattle - I repeat what the Combined Clubs, Blackwood Show, NILRC Show or Shannagh do with their proceeds has got nothing to do with our company and our qualifiers. I don't ask shows before we grant qualifiers whether all receipts, part receipts or no receipts are going to charity. That is their business not yours or mine. AND more importantly it and your posts have nothing to do with this topic of whippet racing at our fairs.
-
Well Facts, When Shannagh were given their qualifiers they made no commitment to us as to what the money raised would be going to. Other shows give ALL proceeds to charity as Mickey Quinn's show did - others take out their expenses and donate the balance , others simply make a donation and keep the balance. Where proceeds go has got nothing at all to do with us. As I said if show organisers wish to have publicity for their charity fundraising we are happy to facilitate them in our magazine. You appear to have some sort of personal grudge against Shannagh and the Sporting Whippet Club

Facts, As you are aware from the above I made a genuine attempt to try to ensure everyone had a chance to run their whippet at Shanes. It is a matter of regret to me that the NILRC did not take up the offer to run a whippet race for their members. Now I don't know what relevance your questions have to this but I will answer them honestly : 1. Irene and I did pop over to the Drumbo track for a short period mainly to put the proposal to the members about my idea for the two clubs running their own whippet racing at Shanes. I suggested it to a few of the committee members and then left it w

In a final attempt to allow everyone the chance to run their whippets at the Game Fair at Shanes Castle on Saturday 27th June I had made a proposal that the Sporting Whippet Club run a MEMBERS ONLY race and also that the NILRC run a whippet race for their members. I am pleased that the Sporting Whippet Club has agreed to do this but disappointed that the NILRC did not take up this option for their members as I had hoped while not a solution to the whippet problems, all whippet owners could at least have an opportunity to run their dogs pending an overall resolution. I do wish to record my

Don't mind a bit of banter or even a robust conversation but I detest really nasty people who attack others to try to get at me! And back to the whippets - I hope we are moving towards a resolution because a lot of good hearted people with the breed's and fair's interest at heart are prepared to make a principled compromise .

This really is the final post to Leeview who has the audacity to sign himself 'Yours in Sport'' at the end of a post full of nasty and inaccurate insinuations. Yes I do think that because you don't attend shows in Ireland there is a real danger of you being totally ill informed as you have demonstrated here. Yes the first dog that won the Master Mc Grath was invited to the Stormont launch but the owner WAS NOT part of the organising team. AND the dog had been the top racing dog in Ireland and arguably in the Uk for several years. It won fair & square and no one has ever complained other th

RMAR - I think we have flogged this topic to death within a thread that started off about the whippets. I don't know the breeding of the dog in question but I was very sorry to hear it was stolen. I don't claim to be an expert on all dogs - not even all gundogs! But I know hat there is no one who could look at a dog and say whether it was full greyhound, 15/16 ; 7/8 possibly even 3/4 greyhound if the other % was whippet or another sight hound. On re-reading your posts I am sorry for being a little robust in my responses to you but reading Leeviews constant moaning always puts me in a tetch

RMAR, People who are running 'full hounds' to win races are only kidding themselves but as you know we have an objection system in place at Shanes where you can put £40 down and have a complaint investigated. Even if the Master Mc Grath was dominated by 'full hounds' which it isn't there are plenty of other opportunities for running your dogs at Shanes Castle and if I had a fast lurcher I would still love to have a punt to qualify it against these dogs. And I although I am not agreeing with you about the dog at the NI Countrysports Fair because I wasn't there - there was no great prize money
-
RMAR : Why leave it to 'People up North' to sort it out SINCE YOU ARE THE MAN WHO CLAIMS HE HAS THE FACTS! I have heard similar allegations about southern dogs! BUT as I say to all people who make unspecific allegations - have the balls to name names and produce the FACTS otherwise you just appear a sore loser who is against the Master McGrath because you don't appear have a dog fit to win it or perhaps even qualify for it!
-
Rifle Man are roots! - Such a joke that lots of clubs in the Uk and Ireland want qualifiers for it? Nothing fair about your comment! Again an allegation made without any proof whatsoever and so grossly insulting to the owners who work hard to prepare their dogs for such a prestigious competition and the many others who try to qualify. As you can see from the many other racing competitions run at our events everyone who likes to compete with their dog has such an opportunity. I have working golden retrievers and if I have one good enough I like to compete with it in tests and trials and i
