  1. Same here, took 4 months overall. Ring 'em.
  2. Just my opinion, and others will have a different one I am sure, but .17HMR is not a fox calibre, opportunist or not, but is most certainly capable of your long range rabbit requirements. Your SGC will not be revoked in light of an unsuccessful FAC application unless you are a naughty boy and get found out .
  3. His Rifle is a Tikka M595 .243/ ammo is 70grain Ballistic Tip's home loaded, here is one of his target's 5 shot's @ 120metre's, just learning Nice rifles Tikka's. I have the m695 in swedish flavour but quite fancy a twin in .243 to back it up (if only I had the cash).
  4. Never seen anything like it! I was very surprised when I saw the original post and am even more srprised that it is a kidney stone . Done that animal a service FD.
  5. That is amazing shooting, head shots off stcks ain't easy especially at that distance, well done to your mate . Nice animals too, that bottom one looks to be a good size.
  6. To do with the amonia content. Some people recommend leaving it to evaporate in the air before use but I think rouge is the better option, just don't breath it in
  7. And if it wasn't fooked before, it certainly will be if you do this
  8. You don't see generosity like that very often, nice one FTB
  9. Good on yer . Just the interview to go now eh? No pressure :drag:
  10. No, not quite. To be able to shoot deer you must have deer specifically mentioned on your licence. In the case of a .22CF rifle it will state Muntjac and CWD in particular. hi mate actually in leicester if you have on your ticket FOX AND ANY OTHER LEGAL QUARRY then you CAN shoot muntjac and cwd i know because this is a topic i posted myself on here as thats what it says on my ticket, and after lots of varied answers i contacted the my feo, and this is the same feo as farmershoot has and he told me if my ticket says FOX AND ANY OTHER LEGAL QUARRY then thats what i can shoot, and m
  11. Nice shot there bud. Reminds me that I must get my stalks done for DSC2, should get it finished this year.
  12. Yes you are always going to get the 'more experience required' posts on whatever forum you write on, my advice is sift your replies for the info you think is useful and ignore the rest without taking anything to heart. There are lots of people hiding in the shadows of the internet waiting for someone like you to come along so they can demonstrate their vast 'knowledge' and manly prowess by slagging you off and not helping you out. However, most comments on this thread are relevant and you should consider a lot of the answers especially the ones aimed at not running before you can walk. Yes

  14. My red filter tend to stay in the boot lately as I've just been using white light with the dimmer. Red just seems to be too dim for me, I like to see what I'm doing
  15. No probs mate we all have to start somewhere. Have a read of these, there is some good info for you to be going on with
  16. Internal cleaning, yes or no? YES For all the reasons already highlighted. Get a cheap sonic cleaner, they go for around 15 quid. Use 50/50 white vinigar and hot water with a drop of washing up liquid, bang through the cleaner a few times then rinse with bicard solution to neutralise the vinigar's acid. Rinse in water, dry and the Bob's your mother's brother. Simples. If you reload quite a lot get a tumbler.
  17. Ok so you know the land needs passing and once it is, you have permission from the land owner to shoot whatever calibre and to take deer...you are sorted on the permission front. As for what calibre fits what land there is no distinction here, the calibre is specific to your needs not the land, if you can safely shoot it on your land you have no dramas. Safety and backstops are the watchwords here. As for experiential trips I suppose the nearest you will get is paid accompanied stalking or a friendly forum member who is local and willing to take you out (there will be someone I am sur
  18. You have the land but do you have the permission to shoot deer? The two do not come hand in hand. Also your land needs to be suitable and cleared for the relevant calibre by the police. As Jamie says, .222 is the min calibre for Munty but there are also bullet weight and muzzle velocity restrictions too. .243 is a good all round cal but I would suggest you need to get out with someone who knows about these things rather than jumping feet first into a world that has the potential to ruin you life if you make a mistake. These forums are good for getting advice but nothing replaces a fa
  19. This is the thing, I have a T3 shortened to 20" and my current mod, which is 700g isn't helping on the balance front, one of a couple of reasons I want to get a lighter mod that so that my rifle doesn't feel like there is a bag of cement hanging on the end.
  20. Quite heavy though I seem to remember, not that you'd notice it on your cannon
  21. What is the weight of these compacts? I'm in the market for a new mod but want something lightweight, with the Wilcats tipping the scales at nearly 1kg I had discounted them. but if the compact makes a considerable difference they might be back in the running.
  22. Where the rabbits are...or were by the looks of it Nice shooting Tex.
