    Been thinking of getting a bushing dog for a while now as most of my local spots are heaving with game but also heavy with cover, A mate has a Springer x terrier and I've seen a few others over the years, I haven't seen many springers working apart from bird dogs so would like to hear more if anyone has anything to say

    no mate, my last one died 7 years ago at 15, got run over, she's below 2 years before she died, In my opinion there weren't enough good Lakey fell types about even then so I struggled for an outcross and they fizzled out, I didn't have the luxury of being able to give them out to lads to work so bred very few, only had 3 litters in nearly 30 years.

    Apart from the two dogs at the back the others were shit dogs, pure show stuff from a guy some will know as Wuppa, bred for shows and passed off as workers, they all ended up shot

    IMO A pup doesn't know the difference between seasons, and a kill is a kill for a youngster, where I walk my dogs for exercise twice daily its tied on they will run stuff unless i kept them on the lead permanently, which i don't and cant. Totally different ball game if your hunting all summer (like some pricks do) to bringing a pup on. Jims first rabbit, 6 months and a bit, i couldn't stop him if i tried !!

    Not the best photos Moo but i'll get some more in the week. He's about an inch short of the Legend now, not sure of his weight but he's a lump. He's been hunting away on his own for a good while now and although he's still a clumsy pup he soon switches on when somethings about, he's knocked a few muntys out of that cover where we walked when you were down.
