  1. The farm I shoot over grows legumes, squashes and the like and the crows are actively pulling plants from the fields at such a rate as to be untrue. All of which must be replaced by hand and delays the total cropping. The farmer has resorted to gas guns, a human scare crow, the usual dead-uns upside down etc, but these buggers are persistant. And now the farmer has covered the entire field with cover mesh as all the above have had little real effect adn the cost balance has enabled the mesh to become realistic Im used to shooting rabbits as my pest of choice, pigeons on ocasion but I'd l
  2. what did you do ? Drown it or what .. Kidding. Good shooting . 1 down loads more to go
  3. Point is you know now. Next time ( trust there will be ), make double sure your weapon and gun hangling is spot on. better still make the shot count Be good
  4. Nah .. Tried that. A couple of other strange things going on too .. like dating
  5. Maybe its me.. If you log onto the front page of www.thehuntinglife.co.uk has this site been hacked ?? Its got a reference to quote: Do not read this if you have moral, ethical, religious .... blah blah blah .. killing your wife and kids..' Jesus .. what moron put this on the site : Its not the correct image and got bugger all to do with me, and I want none of it !
  6. Bob Well put. Just to conclude there is a whole world of information and different methods: If you want to try undertake sighting shots over fixed ranges. Remove as many variables out as you can. Eg Use a rifle bench rest, same batch ammos You are correct there are a number of 'professional' shooters on this site, and you may wish to contact them by PM direct and if invited then learn direct from them when they are undertaking some work. I have done the same actvtiy on a 22lg and take some amazing shots at 'out of range' distances 150m + with high accuracy Good luck, but be
  7. Andyy. On balance what is done is done and at the time in your mind for good reason. You have a conviction period thats with you: This exchange should give you a broad broad concerning the law and what you are facing should you apply off the cuff and without prior preparation. I would say that that may have been the cause of your conviction [not planning] ( not judging by the way ): Do yourself a favor.. Read the HO Guidelines for Police on the issuance of firearms.. You will get this off the internet for nothing. Read and understand what is relevant to you. Pick up the phone
  8. In general its always been a concern about being able to have 3 rounds not only 2 in the weapon.. If you dont have good safe weapons handling - Dont care if thats rifle, s/gun or air rifle you'll have problems anywhere you go. Me I load 3 and thats my norm, and on the point and have finished will make a deliberate unload, and seek an acceptance of the that fact when I leave the firing position. You get used to it and its re-assuring for non semi users For clays and pigeons then semi is a good tool: Treat it with some care and good cleaning is the trick. Mine is a Beretta A390 3" M
  9. Listen to me LOGIC .. We will convert you to the 'dark-side' - you want a semi repeat .. you want a semi auto ... Its all you can think about, you wont care being shunned by polite society when you have the 'one true weapon'... Forget about having to keep the thing completely clean else it can jam.. Dont let getting confused and frightened of all the bits when you've stripped it for a clean and have bits left over ever concern you.. And the licks of red hot flame inches from your face when it digests a cartridge that does not burn so quick means nothing .. Safety.. w
  10. Hang on .. Hang on .. Tax payers money lads .. steady on .. we're in a recession .. that will be a day to Bognor and ices for 20 to go please .. :11: Can I come too ? - I qualify .. .Im the bleeding taxpayer ! Nice to meet yer
  11. Well ... Dammed good web site: so much information and well presented, great. If I was to 'pick peanuts from squirel poo' I would bring your attention to the 'search box' topright hand side corner... looks like its cutting the word 'Australia' - easy to re-position Fasinating and really spent some time going through it - These dogs are something else and all working too. Dont bring em over here there'd be nothing left in a week
  12. Peter You can get loads for £100: As you dont say of you are using a springer or FAC airweapon I'll assume its a Springer as its typically the first to get. If you are purchasing for day light shooting then look to Tasco or Bushnell and you wont need to have a large aperture ( say 32 - 40 ) will be fine You can consider even fixed magnification too as parallex wont help too much as you dont have great range: Give your local gun room a call if they have optics off old weapons that arent shifting and will sell cheap: If looking on Ebay ( spit ) then DO NOT BUY FROM CHINA .
  13. Hi all Have a very nice pair of ROSS Binos 7x50 : (yes... pre range finding by 40yrs !!! ) They are no family heirloom but need cleaning internally after many years of use to get the best our of them Can you recommend anyone ? and an indicative price if you have had it done Thanks in advance
  14. Mate: Had the same issue a year ago. Two tricks if you can. 1. Use a fixed bait like dead split rabbit to attact crows from the barn, or peanut butter for rats etc. Give you a chance to give yourself the best back stop 2. if you are like many that you have a 22lr with long and short magazines ( say 5 or 10 shot ) then you can change ammo up and down. I have 2 shorter ( less powerfull rounds ) I use. 22 short HP, and Florret .. 22 Short - like it says shorter and has less fps: Still make noise when fired like std subs : Florret .. dont waste your time .. they arelike starting ca
