Been a good week for digging.Dug 2 hogs with Token, and one with Roxy, along with a rabbit for the big dog. Another unusually deep dig at over 5 foot in the beanfields. seems some hogs don't know about the 3 foot for day-sets rule...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Got out with Dawn, Charlene and my mate ChrisM with the dogs today..Dug 3 good sized pigs and a possum. A good 7 footer to Token. Killed another in the truck with some stunt driving..lol.. A good day's hunting with some deep digs for round here. Some great dogwork, with piglet the lurcher doing some world class goalkeeping. Wouldn't be the same without a visit from the popo...Someone called to report us...Officer stayed for the dig, gobsmacked..lol (just like back home....not)

Mudd, the hogs can work over dogs. Their teeth are long and they can gash a dog up pretty well..I had a very good dog retire early due to a well place bite from a hog. Size matters, and only small terriers can work them where i am, as the hogs dig away if the dog doesn't get to it and engage it quickly, and even a determined terrier cannot keep up with a hog wanting to collapse a tunnel and dig on. They're hard to kill in the ground, (but I have seen it done)again, due in part to the size of the dogs needed to hunt them. I'll dig up to 16 plus pound hogs with a 9 or 10 lb dog, and a hog is bui

Got out with Morgan (13 already) and Irish Ray today. As is often the case, Ray showed up with a gift.Some binoculars that'll be well useful later in the season. We dropped Token and went off to scout a new bit of land Ray just got. First hole and we were on. A good 4 foot dig in real clay like soil got us to Token doing her thing well. One down. Morgan had bet me a 30 minute backrub we wouldn't get 3 hogs today....I'd have stayed out till midnight to beat her. Next spot is a field I have. It's full of hogs. Me sister is in for a visit so we got out with irish Ray and purdy. We all have pups from the same litter so it's good to see them develop. We had 3 good digs, and each dog got game. The best part of the day was seeing Ray's lurcher turn on- going from an easy going pup to an all out killer..lol. his first was slow, but he learned quick and the second was a "holy shit!" moment. Purdy's Jersey worked like a pro- the best so far and most forward ray's Molly put in a stellar performance, and worked hard on a BIG pig. Got out alone today for the first time in a while, due to having hand surgeries.... wanted to give the young dogs some time. Token , who's only schooled a couple times after a dig is done, entered a den only 20ft from the truck- her first solo time out. She engaged and bolted the hog within 20 seconds, straight to charlie. Further into the field she entered again and Rocks wanted in also. I tied her back and let the young bitch go about her business. we dig all year-except spring (when just on call-outs). the little white terrier is about 10 inches tall. it's the chest size though that needs to be small for g.hogs.
