  1. We shot a neck and leg ringed Greylag the other day at Eccup Resevoir near Leeds, just found out by chance on a ringers website that its at least 7 years old. My question is, is it going to be a tough old buggar to eat
  2. Would loved to have seen where 9 of you managed to position yourselves near the deeks That's 10 not nine! Me thinks Ryno and myself went to the same school, counting ever our strongest subject

  5. First of all mate don't let the vets touch it, ask them to refer you to the willows at solihull. The only draw back is there not cheap but there the best imo. my mates cocker ruptured it's cruciate in it's back left leg and completely detached the one in it's left. They operated and it's still the best dog out in the beating line... Thanks Mally, any idea how long it took before the dog was back working ?
  6. My 8 year old bitch jumped a gate today and caught her hind leg in the top, result was she was suspened by her leg and has ruptured her tendon, hock to foot. The vet, only a young man has splinted it and bandaged it and wants me to call next wek when he has spoken to his colleagues. He is talking about operating and putting metal plates in. The question im askiing is does anyonr have experiance of this type of injury, recuperation time, full recovery expected ?? She seems okay in herself not in any obvious pain but cant put any wait on it. Thanks Bell
  7. That is a lot of geese shot friend, each to his own but not for me Regards Bell

  9. No was definitely a strong runner, Linford Christie of the duck world one of them, my mate couldnt catch it and dog was tethered at the time, saw it tuck in so left it till we packed in and dog picked it no problems Bell
  10. She worked well, picked two stron runners and found two that had dropped stone dead through the surface of the laid crop and were invisible a foot below the surface. They would have been impossile to find without a dog, even if the old girl does wail like a banshee whilst we are shooting !!!! Bell
  11. Was out last night to look at a pond when we saw @25 mallard wanting to pitch into a field of late drilled barley. The crop is in a real state flattened completely with the odd tuft sticking up. Went to look at the field and saw the tell tale sighns of feathers and duckshit. We bedded down as best we could and had some good sport as probably 50 mallard in varying groups came in, packed up after shooting half a dozen to give the dog a chance to find them all which she did. All birds of the year and still quite small. Bell
  12. Thought you were going to sweet talk some farmers and smile your bestest smile ? Have you tried at all
  13. Go on then Mr Cropper i'l bite, its a smashing painting
  14. Dont cram the flattened areas with your decoys, leave room for the birds to pitch in
  15. Whilst we didnt get a lot of birds it was a good way to spend a few hours, i dont think the birds were feeding on that field particularly but were coaxed into the set up to have a look. Stuart was a good bloke to have out and he even got to grips with identifying Stock Doves pretty quickly Ill be in touch mate next month when the duck shooting kicks off
  16. hes probably at the pond now waiting for it to be stocked hiding with his net and dynamite What ? He used a net and dynamite ? That doesnt sound very pucka and above board, tsk tsk That's nothing mate, you should see his freshwater trawler.

  21. Hi mate, there are probably more people qualified than me but ive done a bit of SWFF for Bass and Pollack. If you google UKSWFF there is a load of info on there and will point you in the right direction. Good luck and let us know how you get on
  22. No spots on the tail so definitely a brown trout
  23. Check out www.askthe.police.uk and look up cautions. it actually says "Cautions are covered by rehabilitation of offenders act 1974 and are now spent immediately. This means if youare asked on an application form if you have a caution you can say NO, unless its a conditional caution" Might be a good idea to check with BASC legal dept, but its there in black and white, but its a police documents so i for one wouldnt be trusting it
