  9. Yes plenty mate thankyou...do you? if you read my first post you will find i have never had the pleasure of catching one and shortly after the ban i joined the army for 5 years so i never got the chance to keep a dog let alone run deer, but if you want to be an arse dont let me stop you we are talking pre ban here aint we
  10. when a 190lb fallow stag decides he aint going to run no more, and face's a dog , thats a test if you got a deer dog. Not asking you bird but what does a deer dog do at this point? i suppose a good deer dog would get the job done or at the very least give it its all...... if it does feck all its jacked........
  11. once the dog caught them, they never really put up much fight, but a roe buck that knew his patch was a tough one to catch, they can shift through the gears quick enough to. You never had a Roe buck turn and face the dogs? personally i havent, but i have knew of lads who have had this happened to there dogs, a lad i knew had a collie deerhound greyhound with 1 eye of this, and the gods honest truth, were out once with my mates saluki whippet greyhound bitch, and average dog on deer, anyway she pulled her deer, when we got to her she had knacked it, but half of her ear was missing
  12. someones forgot their medication No, pre-ban deer was what i mostly done, so it pisses me off when idiots ruin it, including yourself, grow up, your here to keep topics on the straight and narrow, not ruin them, yeah i do find your banter funny, but there is a time and a place!!! get a grip ffs where have i criticized anyone, just stated a fact, these post as regular as pmt and end up just as grumpy within hours sorry if this has been done to death my bad... just after some people to put across there views on what it was like back in the day to take deer. i personaly feel lik
  13. what breed did you find the best gamerooster?? or did some just have a general knack to killing them ?
  14. had a look at that the other day not the best of runs but its got some pace
  15. every thread turns messy on here i would have loved to have done it properly pre ban, i remember as i kid i nearly wet myself when it come bounding across the field. i think it sticks out more just cause i never caught one and wont ever get the chance to be honest. easy to catch?? i doubt it have you seen the feckers shift....
  16. now i have never been lucky enough for any of my dogs to have caught one probably due to the lack of numbers of deer on my ground. but i will always remember when i first got into the sport years back and one bolted from cover and ran straight across an open field with my dog in hot pursuit the course must of lasted 2 mins tops before it reached cover. looking back it should of been dead and maybe the whippet x grey i had at the time held back a little if i am honest. i was just wondering if any of you lads have had the joy of owning a dog that took deer regularly be it on the lamp or in the d
  17. am i right in thinkning purdy out of purdys progress dvd was a kelpie x good looking dog and he made traning it look easy..... turned out to be a handy dog...
  18. if it dont catch them before the hedge tough s**t better luck next time. why would you want a dog smashing into hedges accident waiting to happen you want a dog to apply pressure before it reaches cover turning the rabbit inside out running it up and down the hedge row until it makes its strike. in my opinion if a dog catches one once he has run into cover its more luck than a skilled lamping dog..
  19. alright lads just wondering if anyone could help me out i have just left the army after 5 years with a big load of jack shit under my belt. so i have been thinking that i wont get a better time to follow a dream job than now. i have thought about going to collage and are willing to i was just wondering what courses do gamekeepers look at as a must have?. i dont want to do courses that are pointless so anyone that could put me in the right direction please do so all the best
