  3. Is it in a cast still?? how long ago did it happen?? bit more info would help mate
  4. Dont be too quick to take it off her, give her loads of fuss and just wait till she's ready to give it up (that is if she aint f****d off with it) if she does piss off, then just quietly put her lead back on and call it a night, keep a couple of rabbits for training with, they will tend to f**k about a bit the first few times, as it feels different in their mouth, unless you've already used rabbits to teach retrieving!!! most importantly, remember she's young and you've got her for years to come so dont rush it too much now!!!
  5. Take her along and see what she's like with the squealing and excitement, if your mates dog retrieves live then after you've necked one, chuck it down for her whilst its still twitching and see what she does with it, you'll sharp know whether her retrieve is gonna be forgotten for a bit, then go on from there, but hand pick her rabbits for her!! I'd say depending on the breeding she's got would dictate whether she'll be ready to run or not, i've had dogs going full belt at 11 months and others that still cant run properly untill 18 months.......you know your dog better than anyone mate!!!!
  6. Well this little bitch has really found her feet now, she spent a while sleeping in her own kennel, but the last couple of nights has decided to go in with Bruce and totally loves him......he's not bothered either way really, but he wouldn't allow any dogs in so its a good sign, he lets her eat raw out of his bowl the same time as him and isn't bothered about her having any of 'his' bones.......... she's started to do a few retrieves each day round the back graden, and her recall whilst out is spot on, she's now jumping in and out the back of my trooper and no bother in the car at all, quiet a

  12. I put 4 to 5 years, but that would take into account all different things, further than just working ability.....if i wos wanting to put my black dog over something i'd be looking to improve the skin and feet in any potential mating.....but seeing as he just dont seem to wanna shag owt, he answers the question for me........

It'll be more than lurcher owners, as the public dont know the difference.....i've had people stop and ask me if my ROUGH COATED lurcher is a racing grey!!!!!!
  18. Never, if the quary's there run. Plough, run it or not? I have done in the past, but more out of just being there, than intentionally going for the hunt.......... i dont think it makes for an exciting course as neither the dog or the quarry run very well!!!!!
  19. cheers frank.....you know when you just see something that jumps out at you, i like the look of the wheaton stuff!! I usually keep 2 lurchers in, in case of injuries and the like, but never got round to replacing the dog i lost this year, i think she'll fill his shoes nicely!!! Thought i had lost me other dog on friday night after a collision, it gives you the foot up up the arse you need sometimes......... Although apparently i'm making up the injury because i'm too scared to run my first heat in the comp....... L+B......I've got some work to do yet before i show her owt like that, getti
  20. Here's a question.......... i've heard countless people that say they wont run their dogs on a freshly cut rape field, for fear of having the dogs stabbed in the eyes!!!! I've ran my dogs in these fields and although the storks do look brutal, i've never had even a scratched face from them..........does anybody actually know of dogs getting blinded by this??? And not just urban myths like my mates mates brothers uncles sons dog done it!!!!!!!

  23. Had her out on the lead today...... i hate lead training puppies, but it took her all of about 5 minutes to walk alongside me and not be bothered by it, a few rocky times with buses and some prick on a motorbike, tested her nerves but after that nothing!!!! she's a gutsy little thing and not a peep out of her in the kennels, i've got high hopes for her next season!!!!! she'll be meeting sheep next week!!!!!!
