  1. Ok thanks So what I,m after then is just a long net? And what is classed as the right night? Sorry for all the questions but I can purse net quite well and long netting is all new to me. Mark.
  2. I have tried to see if theres any good vids on you tube but cant seem to find any. Im not sure if I can do what I want and thats to set a net in the day between the field and the brambles go back at night or sit as far away as I can and when the Rabbits are out in the field pull a cord drop the net and then walk the them into the net. (is this a drop net?). Thanks for replies so far, Mark.
  3. I go out with my Ferrets and purse net a fair bit but one of my main fields hedgerow is all brambles etc. When I go onto the field at night and try to lamp it all the Rabbits can run from one end of the field to the other and safely bolt home before I can get to them. As Im new to long netting can anyone help? I didnt know if I can set the net open and then sit and when they are out in the field pull a cord and set the net then chase them into it? Is that how it works? Any help would be good. Mark.

one eyed dogs!!! what are you deaking for hilly?

  6. If you were closer I would have come over and fixed it as its not a big job, you have done the worst bit by draining it all down. Leave it open for a while after you have fixed it to keep on checking it to make sure it holds when heating on and then heating off as the pipe expands when hot and shrinks when cold. ATB Hilly
  7. Hi mate I,m a Plumber by trade. You can use plastic push fit fittings and a peice of copper to fix, just make sure the old and new pipes you cut dont have any burrs or sharp edges on them that will cut the o-ring inside the fitting. And when the fittings are in place make sure they are pushed fully home and some have to be turned on the end to lock them in place. Forgot to add only use plastic if 1m away from the boiler if closer then has to be copper. And as post below if you use compression joints use ptfe tape on them and dont over tighten.
  8. Just out of interest if they came to someones door and your not in can they enter your property to look or take action if needed? I was told that they cant go in your yard if you had a closed gate on it? Was also told not to let them in even if you know all your animals are ok because this then gives them some powers? Not sure if I believe any of the above but can someone put it stright?
  9. http://www.liveleak....=977_1321458251 Hope this vid link works. The girl seems abit snooty though.
  10. I have been out and come across dog walkers that didnt think they were in the wrong when I had to tell them about whos land it was and they shouldnt be there and the reply was " its a free country". I must admit it does worry me alittle if I,m out with the bird etc and someone starts just how far does it go?
  11. After looking at the topic with all the anti pics and names etc it got me thinking. I go out on my own most of the time with a shotgun, .22 rimmy a bop and ferrets so far I havn't had the pleasure of any antis yet but what could I do if any do come onto my permission and start and what stories have you lot got. Also would they stop and bug me or is it mostly hound hunts they try to fook up? Hilly.
  12. Its been gutted and skined and no shot found. Must be a snare, just hope the farmer dosn't see any snares as he dosn't want them on his land. If it is a snare then someone has been on the land setting them as I am the only one allowed on (and I haven't seen any) just hope they can keep them out of site of the farmer as he wont be to happy. And I also dont want to get the blame for them being on there.
  13. Ok thanks guys. I was hoping it may not be much of a problem as my bird is up and running after the moult and didn't want any problems.
  14. Not sure whats its call but VHD? But if I understand it right the Rabbits die down the hole and have no external markings, is that right?
  15. No the head was all clear. Looking at the head I wouldn't have thought anything wrong with it but the scabs and skin missing was mostly on the back end.
  16. Not sure if this is in the right place but will ask anyway. Took the Ferrets out today to start off the season and laid all nets down, popped in my Jill and within seconds out thunders the first Rabbit. After getting it out of the net and sorting it I noticed it had fur and skin missing on its back legs and scabs all over it, also the back feet had been worn away and all it had were long claws. I was thinking it looked like Mixy scabs but to take of the skin down to bone and the eyes were nice and clear. Anyone any ideas or is it just Mixy? If pics have worked then a big thanks to dymented
  17. Forms filled in tonight and got letters off land owners to say I can shoot any rifle I can get. The land owners both have Shottys and .22 Rimmys so I know the land is passed. Lets hope it all works this time. Mark.
  18. Thanks fo the info guys its cleared a few things up. Will fill out the forms again and see how it goes. Mark.
  19. Im in the process of trying to sort out changing my fac from air rifle to .22 rimfire. Do I have to fill out the form all again i,e do I need refs again etc? And I was told that as its one gun off and one gun on then it shouldnt cost me? Any one done this and able to give some advice? Many thanks, Hilly (Mark). P.S I have had both my Shotgun and Fac since Nov last year and have got loads of land and plenty of Rabbit, Fox etc to clear. I also have a letter off a guy I go out with and shot his .22 with and it tells the Fao how he has shown me safety etc.
  20. Got this and it seems to say all I need to say.
  21. Very sorry to hear of your loss, sounds like you did all you could. I have two Jill's and one hob all together what do you guys think is best to avoid botulism? Freeze all food before its given etc, and does anyone have any tips to help to avoid most illnesses? When out with them and I get some Rabbits in the net I give them the fresh livers and hearts, should I stop this?
  22. Had my SGC for quite some time now and my dad just went with me to the gunshop and bought two guns for me, one is a 12g Baikal over/under for rough shoots and a spotless 12g Fabarm 3-1/2" magnum. Been out to the spinnys in my area to have alittle play and they are both great guns but the Fabarm is so smooth and alot less recoil with it.
